Cuba: US immoral for reaction to Castro fall
Cuba: US immoral for reaction to Castro fall
AFP: 10/22/2004
WASHINGTON, Oct 22 (AFP) - Cuba's representative in Washington on Friday said a State Department spokesman's comments about Cuban leader Fidel Castro's recent fall proved the immoral nature of the Bush administration.
(snip)

After Castro fell late Wednesday, Boucher said on Thursday, "We heard that Castro fell."

"You'd have to check with the Cubans to find out what's broken about Mr. Castro.

"We, obviously, have expressed our views about what's broken in Cuba," he said, reiterating Washington's litany of complaints about Castro and his communist government which have been the target of a US trade embargo for more than 40 years.
(snip)

Asked whether the United States wished Castro a speedy recovery, Boucher replied: "No."

8. I know! I know! The bulge is actually a little pod person moving under
the skin. They have little tentacles that move
throughout the body and the brain resulting in
that glazed fundie look. People could be being
infected by contaminated baptismal water.

Cheney to *, "Sir the American insurgents ( err, democrats ) are rioting!"
* to Cheney, "Good God, what are we going do?"
Cheney to *, "Don't know about you, but I'm getting back to Halliburton."

7. Boucher was spot on.
Castro has worn out his welcome - but the Cuban people can't throw him out.

The Cuban people kicked US gov and US organized crime backed Batista out of Cuba. Batista was as bloodsoaked as they come. To say that Cubans "can't throw him out" is surely not in touch with the reality of the Cuban people's abilities - or current parliamentary system. The Cuban people, by vast majority, love and/or respect Castro as the living revolutionary founder and symbol of their hard won sovereignty. Castro doesn't run Cuba. The Cuban people do.

The Cuban government was reorganized (approved by popular vote) into a variant parliamentary system in 1976.

You can read a short version of the Cuban system here,

9. Hey, we make fun of Bob Novak, too.
Jon Stewart said that Novak's hip wasn't broken...it was merely "trying to escape"!

Americans may have poor taste, but we have it equally on both the left and the right. :) As it should be....

14. Actually, I expect more from Jon Stewart. I actually respect HIM.
"The Fall of Castro" is a mildly amusing, if unevolved, way of framing his unfortunate accident.

I laughed much harder at the "Bob Novak's hip was trying to escape".

We really shouldn't make fun of this, we all are going to be seniors some day. I do not think that i would want someone to find humor in my misfortune.

17. The vitrol vented from our country toward Castro and Cuba
needs to be set aside. We, as a country, need to open all trade and travel to/from Cuba. The attitude of our government is just plain nucking futs.

I care little that the mafia lost their hotels, gambling, white slavery and drug operations when Castro took over.

Nor do I care whatsoever if some fanatical RW Cuban living in southern Florida hates Castro.

Nor do I care if the American corporate sugar industry prefers to keep Cuban sugar off our tables.

Lets put the past, into the past.
