http://ap.tbo.com/ap/breaking/MGB941ZTM0E.htmlORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - Two of the four hurricanes that blew through Florida cost 9,500 jobs in September, the first time the state's booming employment market declined in two years, state officials said Friday.
The state's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 4.5 percent in September, barely unchanged from August's revised rate of 4.6 percent. However, the September unemployment figure was expected to be revised upward next month because many people were unable to file unemployment claims because of the hurricanes. The storms also may have interrupted job searches, state officials said.
Additionally, the survey was conducted before Hurricanes Ivan and Jeanne hit the state and only reflected the impact of the first two hurricanes - Charley and Frances.
