Lehman: Bin Laden's Location Pinpointed |
|
http://newsmax.com/archives/ic/2004/10/23/113806.shtmlDidn't see this comming, did ya? How convienient: we found him, but "we'll wait to go get him". Hopefully a respectable news source won't pick up on this crap. Let's follow this through: let's say that Bin Laden's hideaway is discovered. Why tell this loose-lipped idiot? And why would this idiot leak the info so that BL could pack up and move along? Doesn't make much sense does it?

4. i read an article on here earlier today that said the mountains he's |
|
hiding in would take a MAJOR military operation to take him out (ala Viet Nam) and that the US doesn't have the available capability "at this point"
i thought that's why we invented smart bombs

5. It doesn't matter how smart the bombs are |
|
...as long as our stupid pResident keeps sending our military off on missions unrelated to getting the terrorists who struck us on 9/11.

6. Take this and run with it for a minute.... |
|
Say they have Bin Laden pinpointed and are worried about going after him because gathering him up and putting him into custody would destabilze Pakistan....
Let's get this straight....
GWBush is more interested in the stability of a shaky miltary run dictaorship than justice for the almost 3,000 people who died on American soil on 9/11.
This also implies that the impulsive one has suddenly started to percieve the world in a far reaching geopolitical way and not from the perspective of a right wing chistian fundamentalist who is hell bent on bringing the End Time fantasy to frutintion....
Yea, Lehman surely knows what he is talking about....

17. I think it's more complicated than that |
|
Pakistan has nuclear weapons. General Mushareff's (I never spell his name right) main opponents are Islamic fundies who were aligned with the Taliban.
Personally, I don't want them to get their hands on nuclear weapons, and neither, I would imagine, does the rest of the world.
That said, when we invaded Afghanistan, we should have kept our eyes on the prize, which was bin Laden, rather than diverting troops and material to Iraq.
The people of this nation were behind the military action in Afghanistan, much, much more than the invasion of Iraq.
We should have focused on stablizing Afghanistan, as much as possible, and putting education programs and other services in place, led by Afghani women, to educate those women.
In other words, a Marshall Plan. If such actions drew Pakistani fundies into Afghanistan (they were already in Tora Bora helping the Taliban) then it would be better to fight them there than to draw Iranians into the known dispute that would develop in Iraq between the Shia, Sunni and Kurdish factions.
At least that's my opinion.
Even if they get bin Laden now, they have made such a mess in Iraq, the capture will not deal with the current issues.

8. Bin Laden sightings are like Elvis sightings... |
|
how the heck would we be able to tell the real Bin Laden from a random injured or dead Afghani geezer. I got a Bin Laden right here, sure you do. Plus right now U.S. credibility internationally is crap.
The Bush Admin. would have trouble convincing Arabs that the sun is the nearest star right now.

I remember watching on FAUX news for an entire weekend, where they kept saying that Saddam's capture was imminent. You'd have thought they were chasing Saddam on foot at that very minute. Sure enough, nine months later, Saddam was in custody.
