Davis, Recall Hopefuls (Ueberroth, McClintock, Bustamante) Rip Arnold
Gov. Gray Davis and the candidates seeking to replace him in California's recall election used the Labor Day holiday to cross-cross the state and take their shots at front-running Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Davis accused Schwarzenegger on Monday of being a stand-in for former Republican Gov. Pete Wilson, who had been an opponent of labor during his eight years in office. Davis reminded pro-labor supporters at a downtown rally that Wilson is co-chairman of Schwarzenegger's campaign.

Former baseball commissioner Peter Ueberroth, a Republican, criticized Schwarzenegger for only agreeing to take part in one campaign debate.

Davis and Ueberroth weren't the only candidates to step up their attacks against Schwarzenegger over the holiday weekend. Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante, a Democrat, and state Sen. Tom McClintock, a Republican, also criticized the actor star on issues ranging from taxes to immigration.

2. Arnold is a sleeping giant.
I just wish that somebody would give him something to put him into a deeper, longer slumber...so, that he wakes up on October 8 to find out that the world has passed him by.

3. Arnold is a joke.
The idiots impressed by his celebrity don't vote. If Davis is recalled, I see Bustamante becoming the next governor of California. McClintock has the wingnut vote sewn up and will come in second. Arnold will finish third.

4. I sure hope you're right!
I know Arnold is a joke...but, the rest of your post is speculation. BTW, please be sure to vote 'absentee ballot'...I always do that...and, it will be a LOT easier...particularly in this go round!

:-)

5. If Arnold was a joke, the field wouldn't be attacking him..
Arianna and Gary Coleman is each a joke, Do you hear anyone going after them ? There is no point in doing so. Neither is a contender.

Whether you approve of them or not, the mere fact of being a strong candidate removes the " joke " status from a candidate.
