U.S. Diplomat Killed in Baghdad Mortar Attack
Edited on Sun Oct-24-04 06:17 AM by Bleachers7
BEIJING (Reuters) - A U.S. diplomat was killed in a mortar attack near the Baghdad airport early on Sunday, Secretary of State Colin Powell said in a statement.

"I mourn the loss of one of our own today in Baghdad. Assistant Regional Security Officer Ed Seitz was killed in a mortar attack on Camp Victory. Ed was a brave American, dedicated to his country," Powell said in the statement issued while he was flying to China from Japan.

A U.S. soldier was also wounded in the attack, State Department spokesman Richard Boucher told reporters.

It was not immediately clear if Seitz was the first U.S. diplomat to be killed in Iraq, U.S. officials said.

BAGHDAD — A State Department security officer was killed Sunday during a mortar or rocket attack at a U.S. base near Baghdad International Airport, the U.S. Embassy announced.

Ed Seitz, an agent with the State Department's Bureau of Diplomatic Security, was killed about 5 a.m. at Camp Victory, embassy spokesman Bob Callahan said. Camp Victory is the headquarters of the U.S.-led coalition's ground forces command.

4. But he kept us safe from Canadian peaceniks
http://www.nowtoronto.com/issues/2002-03-07/news_story.php

From here, the questions come rapid-fire. Are we involved in anti-globalization work? Isn't this a cover for anarchism? Am I personally an anarchist or a socialist? In the interests of anti-capitalist unity, I won't say.
...
Then, the most astounding part of the whole interrogation. Out of the blue, Seitz demands to know where Osama bin Laden is hiding. I know where he is, he insists. In a beard, I would look just like bin Laden.

8. A big difference between a diplomat and a man who holds
a loaded automatic weapon with his finger on the trigger. The Media Whores can't see the difference between the two?

12. Sounds like Seitz was their boss;
http://www.state.gov/m/ds/protection/c8756.htm#rso

>>Regional Security Officers
Diplomatic Security special agents, assigned to U.S. diplomatic missions overseas as regional security officers (RSOs), serve as the personal advisor to the ambassador or chief of mission on all security issues and coordinate all aspects of a mission's security program. They develop and implement effective security programs to protect our employees from terrorist, criminal, and technical attack both at work and at home. RSOs receive valuable assistance in this effort from other Diplomatic Security personnel, Marine Security Guards, U.S. Navy Seabees, local and cleared American guards, local investigators, and security engineering officers, and host government officials. In addition, RSOs provide unclassified security briefings and other professional security advice to U.S. business executives overseas
RSOs serve as the primary liaison with foreign police and security services overseas in an effort to obtain support for U.S. law enforcement initiatives and investigations. <<

10. Even IF he was a MERCENARY
He was there to win "hearts and minds", and as our own "goodwill ambassador", he was a "U.S. Diplomat" in our own new thugocracy with a whole new thugocracy lexicon.

He will be sorely missed, NOT! But he died for a worthy cause, but we can't tell you what that is, because of national security. (hint: it's slippery and Jed's got a lot of it.)

11. Special Agent Ed Seitz - Torturer at Abu Ghraib?
Down here in OZ our mainstream media are also reporting Ed Seitz as a Diplomat. Maybe they just want to scare the pants off John Negroponte at night!!! Sleep well Mr Negroponte!
However our independent media is reporting this man as having been based at Abu Ghraib. They are also reporting him as having been identified by Islamic media sources as a torturer at Abu Ghraib prison. See web site WWW.dennismac.co.uk for details on this man.
They are also reporting that the only reason Colin Powell brought him up to world attention is that he is related to Ray Seitz former US ambassodor to the UK. A kind of State Department farewell for former colleagues. However for Powell to praise this man as "one of our own" is a bit much - Get out the "barf" bag!!!! Powell must think we're all idiots! Where is the praise for the rest of the US's transfer tubes!!!!
Also you ladies and gents might be interested in a couple of other web sites that provide the Iraqi Resistance coverage of the war.
See - www.almokhtsar.com and www.albasrah.net
Some great video footage of Guerilla attacks on US forces.I don't expect these videos to appear on your evening news. However the sites do report "hacking" attempts to try and remove the video footage in particular!

16. Here's What I Think Happened
These Iraqis were actually "conscripted" from prison and "forced" into police service. They collectively said NOFUCKINGWAY and planned to escape from Iraq. They were heading North not South when they were ambushed....(the story being they were headed home for leave in the South of Iraq..blah blah blah...)

With the security situation as bad as it is in Iraq what are the chances that new recruits were given leave.. and none of them was armed..nobody even had a fucking pistol?...please this story is so implausible on so many levels.

Then throw Mr Seitz into the mix and things get even murkier.

Sounds like a black Ops gig that got really messy and somebody was really pissed at Seitz who was probably responsible for the fuck up.
