Raleigh paper endorses Kerry for President.
The News and Observer here in Raleigh, NC has endorsed Kerry/Edwards. Frankly I'm shocked, pleased but shocked. Don't get your hopes up, tho. Unfortunately, I still think North Carolina will go red, red for redneck. This is the state that sent Jesse Helms to the Senate for several decades.

5. They are using Clinton to smear Bowles.
The repugs anti-Bowles ads show Clinton more than Bowles. If that is the best they can do, Bowles may pull it off. I don't know. He needs the rural area of NC, which overwhelmingly is repugnantcan. Easley the governor (D) will probably win. His opponent is lying like a rug. The paper and commentators are not buying the 'I will improve schools, roads, bring jobs and cut taxes' shtick.

2. Do you know of any poll numbers from NC?
I was hoping that Edwards would draw in the state.

Red can morph into Blue at any given moment(that has been building for some time).

And vice versa, of course!

The Asheville Citizen Times endorsed Kerry, too! My very old stomping grounds!

8. Not that much of a surprise ...

The News & Observer is owned by Sacramento-based McClatchy, which also owns the somewhat liberal Sacramento Bee and Minneapolis Star-Tribune papers. Still, it's good to see another Southern paper with the cojones to avoid endorsing another four years of Chimpoleon.

10. A republican friend of mine
just informed me tonight that he will vote Kerry. He said I have swayed him. I'm a North Carolinian. There's hope if you put effort in your conviction.

11. Keep going.
And keep the faith. I've turned two voters here in Texas and I'm talking until the polls close Nov 2.
