8. they all do
one of the most damning things about him is that even these tired, old rw justices don't want to let him fill the seat.

4. Hopefully it will be kept in check
and not to sound crass, but there is the number one reason Kerry must win. There may be three or four openings on the Supreme Court in the next few years and we certainly do not want bush making those appointments. Get well soon Justice Rehnquist.

10. Thyroid cancer is an easy cure, isn't it?
Step-mother had it (what do you expect when you tour Nagasaki in 1946?), first cousin had it...

Of course, he is a bit old.

NO FUCKING WAY DOES GEORGE GET THIS APPOINTMENT. NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

11. Pragmatically Speaking, This Means There May Not Be a 5-4 Decision to
Decide the election this year...Just being a pragmatist...I hope he's ok...Though if Bush get's to replace him (which I doubt he would before Kerry is sworn in) it would merely mean status quo...

12. seriousness depends on the kind of cancer
there are five types of thyroid cancer, there are two which are curable and three which are not, fortunately, the two which are curable are the most common kinds, comprising of 90% of the incidence combined.

I hope he has a speedy recovery and a good prognosis.
