US Faces OMINOUS FISCAL Picture With Huge Deficit (Chic. Tribune) |
|
Comptroller General David Walker's most troubling briefing paper shows the federal budget growing progressively larger until spending reaches nearly half the economy's total output in 2040. --snip-- http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=2027&e=1&u=/chitribts/usfacesominousfiscalpicturewithhugedeficit

9. Yep. These guys are so delusional |
|
and so predictable.
Deficits are bad, so let's support the big deficit candidate.
Iraq war was prolly a bad idea, so let's support the idiot who did it.

3. Gee, we had budget surpluses when Clinton left |
|
And now we're looking at record deficits. The major difference seems to be the person sitting in the Oval Office. Nice endorsement there, Trib. Care to reconsider?

7. of Course! they exemplify the PIPA (PIPPA?) poll thesis, which |
|
posits that those of that particular Bush pathology are IMMUNE to facts; that they are incapable of living in the world of observable truth, and exist in the benighted age of PERCEIVED wisdom, imperivous to the empirical, much the same as the Catholic church took FOUR HUNDRED years to admit Galileo is right.
the only difference between the Catholics and the flat earthers is that the latter will never come to the realization that all is round

|
Snipped from the original article..
<snip> "We start with a haircut," he said, thumbing through the pages that show federal spending starting to explode as Baby Boomers reach retirement. "The next page is a scalp, and then we go to decapitation and finally disembodiment." <snip>

12. Basically its going to be Germany in 1923.... or Britain in 1946 |

Our currency is going to become worth less and less. The nice thing about national debt (denominated in dollars) is that we can always pay it off by just printing dollars. Isn't it amazing that the world continues to lend us money??
I really think the answer is, they have little choice. A hoveled America really does hurt the world. Not to say that the world can make our lives very difficult and that the US is definately in decent. The real losers in this Ponsi scheme are the millions of pensioners and small investors and the US currency.
I don't know what to do...Where and what are "safe havens"?
