Marysville teachers vote to strike
Teachers in Marysville voted overwhelmingly Monday night to strike against the school district, shutting down schools for the opening day Tuesday.

Pickets were expected Tuesday morning after the 581-to-9 vote at a meeting held at Marysville-Pilchuck High School, Rich Wood, spokesman for the Washington Education Association, said Monday night.

Contract talks with a state mediator broke down Saturday. Union representatives cited wages, benefits and working conditions as key issues for the 690-member Marysville Education Association
