Two US military police officers have been killed and one wounded in a bomb attack near the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.

Their Humvee military vehicle hit an explosive device on a road in the southern outskirts, the Coalition Provisional Authority said.

"The two officers were killed and one wounded when their vehicle struck an improvised explosive device on a main supply route south of Baghdad," said a spokeswoman.
