New inquiry into Wellstone death urged
New inquiry into Wellstone death urged

Minneapolis-St Paul Star Tribune
Oct 26

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- University of Minnesota Duluth Professor James Fetzer, a Kennedy assassination theorist, called on Congress Monday to investigate the death of Sen. Paul Wellstone, who Fetzer believes was the target of a White House plot.

Fetzer, a McKnight professor of philosophy, told a group of journalists and supporters at the National Press Club that the official government probe into the Wellstone plane crash on Oct. 25, 2002, whitewashed a broad Republican murder conspiracy, a charge he has made before.

"Something very wrong has happened in this case," he said.

Fetzer's assassination theory, now the subject of a book he co-wrote with a Northern Arizona University professor, Four Arrows, has been widely dismissed by government officials. The book is called "American Assassination: The Strange Death of Senator Paul Wellstone."

1. Ummm...yeah
I remember shortly afterwards when Lott was relating having a conversation with Cheney--who was on one of his endless sport-killing sprees against dangerous small birds--and he regaled the reporters with saying how he'd asked Deadeye Dick if he'd gotten any Democrats. My thought was that he should have replied "just the one".

There is absolutely no reason NOT to explore this; it's fishier than Charley the Tuna.

that someone didn't threaten Dayton either.

4. IF ONLY THE STUPID MAJOR MEDIA WOULD SAY ANYTHING
ABOUT WELLSTONE!!! Not a THING today. I don't go for the assasination theory, though it is probable, but they didn't even acknowledge the anniversary of his tragic death...NOT EVEN A CRAWL LINE!

5. You can find conspiracies in anything
over examining any tragedy there will be found all kinds of inconsistencies and suspicious circumstances.

For now, I believe that the plane crash was an accident. It happened close to landing, in very poor weather.

I could change my mind---I believe Cheney is capable of this, but I just do not believe he actually did, as of now.

6. Here's the report if anybody is interested.

The plane was tracked through the instrument approach at dangerously low speeds and commanded by a pilot with a documented history of poor flying and close calls. The weather was terrible and the aircraft was off course.

If this is a fake it's a good one. I have an open mind but have yet to see one shred of evidence that Wellstone was murdered.

10. I'll probably buy the book
but it'll take something major for me to completely believe it...my grandfather, a pilot for 40 years, even said that though the conditions did warrant high risk, it wouldn't surprise him if this is how the Bushies get rid of their problems.

18. Alternatively
many other planes landed safely flying near Eveleth that day, and reports I have heard are that the weather was simply NOT that bad. "Operator error" seems mighty convenient given the timeframe of this "accident".

7. I would love if something really damning came out
about this in the next week. Something really concrete and really damning. I've never believed it was an accident.

It's just further proof that BushCo will do ANYTHING for power. It really makes me worry about Barack Obama. Obama has a great ability to unite both sides of an issue and he seems like he can't be bought. That scares the shit out of me because that's the kind of person that BushCo can't STAND.

8. The part of me that believes in the slight chance of an assasination...
makes me worry for people like Obama and Kucinich as well. Even Kerry. It's scary to even begin to think we live in a world where the rulers of this country are not only appointed by the Supreme Court, but are able to kill off their enemies...:scared:

9. Take note: Obama is pro-war
The man makes a good speech, but supporting the war in Iraq is hardly evidence that he is as fiercely independent as you pretend.

14. He is?
He's said he would've voted against the IWR and has characterized the war as unnecessary and a strategic blunder. Has he disavowed those assessments?

12. If you read...
the NTSB report, the accident was just that, an avoidable accident that was the result of very poor piloting, unfortunately.

15. Right. Just like JFK was killed by Oswald using a rifle in such poor...
...condition that the FBI firearms experts wouldn't fire the weapon until several key repairs had been made.

You sould you believe everything your government tells you. Care to explain why you have such blind trust?
