Bush campaign website takes a dive
WASHINGTON (AFP) - President George W. Bush's official re-election website was down and inaccessible for hours, in what campaign officials said could be the work of hackers.

Web surfers seeking information on the president's latest bon mot or appearances at www.georgewbush.com were greeted with an error message.

A Google search for georgewbush offered a number of alternatives, including Bushisms and Bush humour at politicalhumor.about.com or the website parody georgewbush.org, complete with spoof news stories and satirical bumper stickers.

"President's Convention Acceptance Speech Unveiling Detailed Plans for Tons More Good and Way Less Evil," went one headline.

3. Sounds like a Rove ploy, to me
Much like how he bugged his own office during a campaign in Texas, creating a backlash against his candidate's opponent.

(see "Bush's Brain")

5. Rove reminds me of the story
about the little boy who killed his parents and then begged the court for mercy as an orphan.

10. Didja notice that pathetic, fake "poll" on the Bush page?
It's on the right hand side column:

President Bush's defense budget will fulfill which of these goals?

³Increase pay for our servicemen and women

³Continue to eliminate inadequate military housing

³Provide the next generation of weapons to assist our troops in the field

³All of the above

12. Access denied
Did I see the poll? No, because the site is now blocking accesses from outside the US, according to The Register. I just get an 'access denied' page when I try accessing from the UK. So much for the coalition of the willing, eh?

13. Oh, gawd, what are they afraid of now? Yep, let's spread freedom and
democracy the Bush way:

Wear a "protect our civil liberties" t-shirt, and you get denied access to a Bush rally.
Carry a Kerry wallet sticker, same thing.
Live outside the USA, and you get denied access to their (pitiful) website.

Heck, the PRC (mainland China) seems more liberal than these scaredy-cat fools!

Hmm, just thought, would the site hackers have been from outside the USA? Why are they so damn fearful of anyone outside their tiny circle of yes-men and women?

The end is near for BushCo., but you can bet they won't go down without a dirty fight!

27. Poor CLINTON
...He can barely use a cell phone! He LOVES technology, but he absolutely SUCKS at it! The only thing dear Bill was good at hacking into was a juicy rib! Poor dude will have to make do with tofu, now!

But, yeah, they will probably blame him...or his technologically advanced, computer-savvy PENIS! Yeah, that must be it...Clinton's PENIS did it!!!

25. Bush Campaign Blocked The Site!

http://newsvote.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/3958665.stm

Surfers outside the US have been unable to visit the official re-election site of President George W Bush.
The blocking of browsers sited outside the US began in the early hours of Monday morning.

Since then people outside the US trying to browse the site get a message saying they are not authorised to view it.

The blocking does not appear to be due to an attack by vandals or malicious hackers, but as a result of a policy decision by the Bush camp.

29. So bc04 has written off expats and soldiers abroad huh?
"He said the site may see no reason to distribute content to people who will not be voting next week."
----

Now they don't want the military to browse their site or get informed. Another way they have screwed the military soldiers in Iraq. Shameful.

Sonia

31. I love how the reporter digressed and quoted georgewbush.org
The Bushies probably sent a frantic PR with charges of "hacking" and hoped to get a little anti-Democratic spin out of it.

34. They're also blocking all non-US traffic.
Read this today in an adult web board (for developers). Looks like they're not allowing anyone with a non-us IP to access the site.

36. I don't know how Clinton managed to do this
but he did. Also, Clinton has caused cloudy weather here in Alabama, denying me the chance to see the moon. Clinton must have been busy, taking down *'s website and conjuring up clouds over Alabama at the same time. If I wasn't so tired (because of Clinton's vicious Communist plot to deprive me of my precious bodily fluids), I'd protest this.

Oh, wait, no I wouldn't. To hell with *'s website.
