Reuters Poll: Bush Leads Kerry by 1 Point(Zogby)
Edited on Wed Oct-27-04 06:14 AM by Champ
By John Whitesides, Political Correspondent

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Bush leads Democratic rival John Kerry by 1 point with six days left in a tight race for the White House, according to a Reuters/Zogby poll released on Wednesday.

Bush led Kerry 48-47 percent in the latest three-day national tracking poll, as the Massachusetts senator gained 2 points on Bush in a day. Bush led Kerry 49-46 percent on Tuesday.

Bush's lead was well within the poll's margin of error, leaving the White House rivals in a statistical dead heat heading into the stretch run.

"Today was a big day for Kerry," pollster John Zogby said.

6. Actually, before Zogby's recent polls, many DU threads...

asking which pollster was most trusted, resulted in posters answering Zogby in overwhelming numbers. I think he's been considered relatively independent, working indepently, or for Reuters, and not with a TV network.

7. Only DU-ers who supported dean - because Zogby FAVORED him
in primaries. Not a pollster's job. he shilled for W in 2000, and does it now. Dead heat my foot!

9. I thought he was the only pollster to call it for Gore, at the wire...
in 2000, but could be mistaken.

16. Zogby showed Dean ahead when he was ahead and showed *Kerry
to be the winner of Iowa for gosh sakes. :eyes:

All the polls had Dean in front when he was the front runner, Zogby showed Kerry trending up/Dean trending down just like other polls.

May Kerry, Edwards, and daffodils await us in the new year.

8. This is good news because it shows a continued trend of voters
abandoning * and moving toward Kerry. I think many more voters will move toward Kerry as they catch up with all the latest news: the missing explosives, the massacre of newly-trained Iraqi troops and Allawi's blaming the coalition for their murders.

I think there is generally a few days lag between the time a story breaks, when people generally become aware of the story and when people form their opinions about the story.

13. Now I think it's official:
Every national poll (at least that I know of) has picked up a Kerry trend.

Hopefully it stays that way.

17. Aren't these national polls totally irrelevant without qualifying
which states they're polling?
