Now It's Colin Powell Vs. Howard Stern
These are not my words they come from AP

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Foul-mouthed radio personality Howard Stern has another Powell to reckon with: Secretary of State Colin Powell. The nation's top diplomat came to the defense of his son, Federal Communications Commission Chairman Michael Powell, after Stern said the younger Powell only got the job because of his family name. Colin Powell labeled the accusation "just so much nonsense."
snip>>...
"My son is an enormously qualified individual, and I think he has served - if I may so as a father and as a not so distant observer - with great distinction," Powell said Wednesday in an interview with CNBC.
>>>.
Though Stern's show has produced more FCC fines than any other, Powell told Stern, "I don't think that, you know, we have made any particular crusade of the Howard Stern show or you."

1. Notice how he calls it 'nonsense', but doesn't deny that it's true.

5. That idiot of a son of his didn't actually deny it either!
Stern is no more outrageous than a lot of other talk radio stuff on our airwaves!

If the church chatters don't like it they should change the dial or watch what their kids are doing.

I have done a 360 on what I think of Howard in the last six or seven months--he is right, there is an on off button and a channel button and if people don't want to hear his material/turn the station or turn the radio off.

I am SICK of being told what is "decent"

6. Right; he refers to his resume, but doesn't address the question.

Typical politico move; they won't outright lie (unless it's Cheney we're talking about), they'll ususally just duck the actual question.

Calling them on it is soooooo much fun.

37. What's hilarious is...

...that Michael Powell says, "No, I'm my own man. Check out my resume." to Stern, and one day later his Dad is supporting him in public. So sad.

7. Gee, how statesmanlike.
Colin should have just left this whole thing alone. Its bad enough that his son got the job and he knows that.

BTW I think I'd be ashamed too if my son looked older than me.

33. Amen!
What a shame that we have to put up with that useless f`cktard as head of FCC! By allowing media conglomerates to consolodate Powell has done great damage to the cause of democracy (informed consent of the governed being necessary for just representation) in the United States.

26. Nepotism runs rampant
among republicans. That's why they are so against the estate tax. They believe in inherited wealth. They consider themselves the nobles, the elite...and ironically these labels are applied to liberals.

Let's see, we have Powell, who was appointed because of his daddy, Bush, who got EVERYWHERE in his life by his dad's last name, and the hopefully soon to be former senator, Lisa Murkowski, appointed by her dad to the senate.

As for Powell himself, it's clear they have no sense of decency. They continually go after Stern but ignore ass holes like Savage...They are obviously trying to shape the public airways in such a way that it is a propagnda tool - more blatant than ever before.

Fuck Powell. Fuck his son.

I may have to tune into Howard just to hear his response to this bullshit.

Can you believe that the Secretary of State has the time and the inclination to respond to Howard Stern's rants? LOL..........what an ass. Hey Colin, shouldn't you really be working on something a little more important than defending that scuzball kid of yours?

28. By rushing to Sonny's defense, Daddy proves the point.
Not everyone has a big name Daddy to stand up for them.

Every time Poppy comes to *'s defense, he looks ridiculous, and * looks like the little boy who never was able to get out from under Daddy's shadow.
