PA Minister to 'Post': Yasser Arafat in 'critical condition'
Dr. Mustafa Barghouti, a cardiologist who visited PA Chairman Yasser Arafat Wednesday night, told the Jerusalem Post that Arafat is currently conscious and doctors are tying to determine whether he can fulfill his duties.

"He is seriously sick and has a severe illness but he is being cared for by a good medical team. His main problem is in the gastro intestinal tract," Barghouti said.

Barghouti, head of the Palestinian Peace Initiative and one of the harshest critics of the PA chairman, added that the problem is making Arafat unable to eat and digest.

Asked why Arafat was not being moved to a hospital, Barghouti said, "there is no difference, he is receiving adequate medical attention here with very good doctors."

Our local a.m. talk radio station here in San Antonio, KTSA has their drive time host, Chris Duel, in Jerusalem since last Friday and he is reporting information he is picking up from Israeli officials and a Jerusalem Post reporter.

Duel is reporting that numerous sources have told him that Arafat's condition is being called "critical" and that he is in a coma and unresponsive. The latest, as I got out of the car was that many people have been asked to leave Arafat's compound and they complied.

1. This afternoon's World at 6 on CBC mentioned a need for gall bladder
surgery.
They also said that the power vacuum would really be a problem. The former and current prime ministers are sharing authority for the moment, but if Arafat goes, then their two factions will most likely start fighting each other. Not to mention other factions that may be around, too...

4. I can't think
of any effect it would have on the election.

Although it could help Kerry in one way - in this last week as he sprints to swing states, some of them with heavy Jewish populations like Southern Florida, etc. he would be asked less about whether or not he would deal with Arafat. Now the issue itself seems mute.

5. which corporate media told you that Yasser Arafat was "evil"
or do you just know he is.
is that like the Axis of evil?
isn't the United States at war against "evil""?
...oops no that's war against war
...nope, it think it's war against terra

Is the United States "good" ?
Good against Evil right?

Wake up !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The corporate media will paint you a picture just as they see fit to benefit their own agenda.
Jimmy Carter worked closely with Arafat to promote peace in the region and they continued to remain friends after Carter left office.
Billy Carter was friends with him too and stayed at his house when he visited the region (my mom knew Billy carter)

So if Israel is good and Palestine is "evil" and if Arafat is "evil" then,
... as Bernie Ward would say:
Check your hat at the door and pick up your crayons.

11. Your attitude is just like a Freeper
Arafat is the Palestian leader, right? He does nothing to stop suicide attacks on innocent civilian Israelis. That does not mean that the Israelis are innocent. I hate the tactics the Israelis are using. Neither side is doing the right thing to try to find a way to co-exist. Bushco abandoned the whole problem, so the situation has gotten worse during his mis-administration.

Your attack on me was illogical and not backed up by any facts or information. If you want to try to change somebody's mind about something, then give them facts and reasoning and your argument, not insults. In other words, quit arguing like a Freeper.

8. given bushco's new ad
where he "heals" the trauma of the 9/11 victim, he will probably take credit for causing Arafat's death by prayer and the fundies will be further convinced that he is the chosen leader
