DeLay, Morrison swap charges (says kos is funding anti-US fighters)
snip>
"The Democrats are using the courts and the legal system to criminalize politics, for their political gain and character assassination," said DeLay via telephone.

DeLay supporters have pointed to a calendar listing on the Morrison Web site as a smoking gun linking Morrison to the LaRouchians.

"LaRouche is a con felon and all I can tell you is that Mr. Morrison has supported and campaigned with LaRouche followers and Mr. Morrison also has taken money and is working with the Daily Kos, which is an organization that raises money for fighters against the U.S. in Iraq," said DeLay.

Morrison called DeLay out of line, accusing his connections in the capital for fighting his battles.

1. This is getting ridiculous ...

What exactly are the rules on slander charges being filed against elected officials?

4. DeLay accused Kos of treason!
Elected official or not, that has to be sufficient grounds for a lawsuit!

6. Exactly what I was thinking ...

It's not like he just insulted him. His charges state directly that a crime has been committed. That should be actionable.

9. Or at least defamation, and a civil lawsuit...
... since such statements could hurt Kos' earning potential.

11. Wow! Delay's gone round the bend
Edited on Wed Oct-27-04 11:16 PM by Gman
he's losing it. Delay sounds delusional. He's hearing voices, and he's paranoid.

I feel a bit slighted that Delay intentionally did not mention DU too.

12. Zell Miller gave Delay some of his kool-aid....
They're all getting so far out of the realm of reality that it's truly frightening.

14. This guy is looney.
I wonder if he thinks he is being followed all the time.. Even in his home>??> What a nutzoid.

Whats frightening is that with the Patriot Act they can lock people up for suspicion on the things he is accusing Kos of.

15. No Way!
I can't believe even that idiot would say something that stupid! It's incredible how the radicals in the republican party show their true colors when things get hot during an election. Bunning, Delay, Cheney, Bush, they're all saying crazy crap right now. I just wish people will listen to the lies that are spewing from their pie-holes this time around.

17. An old DeLay comment: Texas A&M & Baylor are unGodly...
That comment was made at a Baptist church meeting where he was lamenting those dens of iniquity that don't teach Creationism. (A&M is in his district.) I was prompted to look up the earlier idiocy because of the DeLay statements quoted in this thread. Found some interesting stuff:

DeLay attended Baylor from 1965 to 1967 before graduating from the University of Houston in 1970. But DeLay ended his student relationship with Baylor because of something that happened on the A&M campus.

"He was asked not to reregister" at Baylor, (DeLay spokesman) Grella acknowledged. "When the congressman was younger, his extra-curricular activities got him in trouble. He had a vigorous social life and accepts the consequences of his actions."

Asked if those actions took place at A&M during DeLay's student days, Grella told the Standard: "Yeah. ... They played some pranks."
