(Columbus)Suburban News Pub.(Front Page) "John Kerry For President"
Edited on Thu Oct-28-04 12:09 AM by farmbo
While the rock-ribbed-republican Columbus Dispatch endorsed Bush*last Sunday, Columbus' Suburban News Publications...which publishes over two dozen inter-city and suburban weekly papers in the Columbus area... has taken the extraordinary and unprecedented step of issuing a FRONT PAGE endorsement of John Kerry for it's 287,051 (now contented) readers.

In case you're interested, the Suburban News Publications' circulation is greater than the 259,127 daily circulation of the Dispatch.

John Kerry for President

Suburban News Publications has never made a Presidential endorsement. Our 22 community newspapers do not regularly cover national politics, and we have always considered it more important to offer readers our opinions on Central Ohio candidates and issues.

This year is different. The stakes in next week's Presidential election are so high, and the contrast between the candidates is so stark, that we cannot in good conscience keep silent. SNP strongly endorses Sen. John Kerry for President and urges voters to support him on Nov. 2.

By almost every measure, the administration of President George W. Bush has become a disaster. Since he effectively rallied the nation following the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, Bush has made one wrong decision after another.
<snip>

Ouch!
Read the whole article...they pull no punches.

In the end it looks like Kerry...and not Bush... got the gem of central Ohio newspaper endorsements.

Oh...and just by the way...word on the street is that the Dispatch editorial board voted 5 - 0 to endorse Kerry. Alas, they were overruled by the now infamous Wolf Family owners/publishers.

Edited for spelling

2. Myth! George Bush did NOT "effectively rally the nation" after 9/11.
We WERE rallied. We would have followed a toy poodle at that moment. Bush did NOTHING except declare eternal war against an enemy that can never be defeated: "terrorism." EVERYTHING he did after 9/11 was wrong. I remember screaming when I heard the words "Act of War." We've accepted that as if there were no alternative, yet nation after nation has experienced terrorism and not one of them has gone off the rails like George took us.

Please can we stop pretending that anything George ever did was the right thing? It wasn't. And especially NOT THEN.

4. These Weekly Papers
...stay around for days and days in most people's homes, unlike the daily papers... people read them more thoroughly, since the news in them "hits closer to home."

6. Absolutely...they have high school football pictures and..
...stories about everybody's son/daughter in the marching band.

More people will see and read this front page endorsement in the SNP than that goofy Dispatch endorsement on the Op/Ed page.

5. Sweet...
the folks who live downtown are probably Kerry supporters anyway, so getting this suburban endorsement should help balance the Dogpatch's * endorsement out in the burbs.

7. My favorite line from the article:
"Bush, caught up in some messianic delusion that he's been chosen to save the world, doesn't seem to care what it costs or who'll pay the bill."

8. Lurking Freepers, please note.
"You don't have to be a Democrat or a liberal to condemn the failures of the Bush administration -- and Bush's arrogant refusal to acknowledge those failures."

Republican and Independents -- Don't waste your vote on four more years of disaster, and that is all that Bush has brought -- one disaster after another. Vote Kerry or don't vote at all.
