Kerry Campaign Spends $250,000 on Arkansas Ads
Thursday October 28, 2004 12:28pm

Little Rock (AP) - The Democratic National Committee announced Thursday morning that it will spend $250,000 on TV ads in Arkansas supporting John Kerry.

DNC chairman Terry McAuliffe said Thursday that the ads would run in the Little Rock, Fort Smith and Jonesboro markets. McAuliffe said the buy would help the Democrats turn the state from red to blue on Election Day.

McAuliffe said the ad would focus on prescription drugs, lost jobs and taxes break for the wealthy. He said it would show that Kerry is for working families. He called it a major investment from the party to the state.

1. Smart Move
and about time. I wonder if its too late to go in at the last minute and try to make things happen there. Arkansas is a state that could easily be won by Kerry with some effort. We'll either take Arkansas this year or lose by less than 3 points.

15. Yes, smart move
I have wondered aloud recently if Big Dog was planning a trip to his old stomping grounds.

2. I'm a Texan in exile living in Arkansas. The only thing sweeter
than a Kerry win in Arkansas would be a Kerry win in Texas! I hope he wins in both!!!!!!!

This coupled with Clinton's visit will cause big headaches for Rove.

6. About time...
I still don't understand why they pulled out to begin with. A good turnout from Pulaski County, the South and Delta areas and Arkansas goes back to blue.

Hopefully the knuckle-draggers in Benton County will stay home.

14. I know a couple of "knuckledraggers" from BC that won't be staying home

Two one-issue family members :argh: And then there are all those rich retirees from Bella Vista. And the "Wal-Mart is King" group from Bentonville. And the religious zealots from the rural areas.

Benton County went 60-40 for bu$h in 2000--- if the bu$h margin is less than that this year, we'll be making progress!

7. Great! President Clinton said that, had he known,
(and, I guess, if they had been taking advantage of his skills)that the NRA was going to mount the attack on Gore that they did in 2000, that he could have made some phone calls and "done some hollering" and put a stop to all of that. Maybe he will do that this time. Also, what's the story of his campaigning in Hawaii?

10. Unless something changes, he won't, according to the story.
This is the last paragaph:
McAuliffe also said that Bill Clinton's planned stop in Arkansas on Sunday would be the former president's final campaign appearance. He said Clinton would head back to New York after the Arkansas stop.
Guess it's still too soon after surgery to put greater demands on his energy and stamina.

17. Question for Arkansas folks?
How popular is the Big Dog in Arkansas these days? Do people resent him moving to New York?

I have no clue, the only people I know in Arkansas are in Fort Smith/Paris area and they are all right wing transplants out of Ohio.
