Amnesty [International] says US is "two-faced"
BEIJING, Oct. 28 (Xinhuaent) -- Amnesty International has accused the United States, of being two-faced about the treatment of prisoners.
...
In a scathing 200-page report, the London-based human rights group says the US war on terrorism has adopted two standards--condemning abuses publicly, but committing them behind closed doors. It says the US has fallen short of the standards it routinely applies, in criticizing other governments.

Amnesty International released the report, six months after the exposure of the Abu Ghraib photos, to try to ensure that the issue of torture, does not fall off the US political agenda, after the election.

The group says it welcomes the investigations undertaken so far, but said they aren't "enough", and failed to address questions about ultimate responsibility. The highest-ranking US officer to be charged with abuses at Abu Ghraib, is a staff sergeant.

1. That's standard operating procedure for Repugs. Say one thing, do the
opposite.

Say what they think most Americans support, then do whatever they please, which is usually the opposite.

3. American prisoners in American prisons have been abused for years
And nobody cares. Some of those guards from West Virginia who abused the prisoners in Abu Ghraib were guards in American prison(s). You can just imagine what goes on with these thugs guarding. Most Americans could care less. They just don't get it. They are clueless. The callous way Americans treat each other is simply reflected in the treatment of outsiders.

I would like to see Amnesty International investigate American prisons and also the International Red Cross. Its time we clean up our own country before we go arrogantly trooping across the world.

6. Oh oh amnesty international is about to become as hated as ACLU
The gall of some furin group to criticise God (Bush* admin) like this. They are now on the shit list like ACLU. We know that the GOP finds anyone who supports Civil Liberties as being obscene as those three teachers who were removed from a Bush* ralley for wearing t-shirts that said just that. "Protect Civil Liberties" What an obscene thing to wear.
