Bush Campaign to Recut Doctored Ad
INDIANOLA, Iowa - President Bush (news - web sites)'s campaign acknowledged Thursday that it had doctored a photograph used in a television commercial and said the ad will be re-edited and reshipped to TV stations.

The photo of Bush addressing a group of soldiers was edited to take out a podium, aides said, and a group of soldiers in the crowd was electronically copied and used to fill where the podium had been.

"There was no need to do that," said Mark McKinnon, head of Bush's advertising team who shouldered the blame. "Everyone technically works for me so I accept the responsibility."

Democrats said it is fitting that Bush would fabricate an advertising image.

13. On CNN they claimed
...it wasn't FALSE, it was a representation, ya know, like a fuzzy image, an idea....

They are so lame. Even when 'taking responsibility' they spin like tops.

16. Mark McKinnon
Anyone remember the Bush debate materials that were mailed to the Gore campaign in 2000? The mysterious package that supposedly contained a pair of pants being returned to (I think) The Gap? Owner of the pants was Mark McKinnon.

10. If nothing is wrong, why change it?
Memo to Judy W:

Next time, ask the OBVIOUS questions.
Ask the Bush campaign representative that in light of the Bush campaign's decision to change the commercial to reflect an accurate image, WHY are they doing this? Wasn't the doctored image morally wrong?

Come on, Judy. Show a little jounalistic integrity, huh?

12. With 5 days left in the campaign, 1 DAY of downtime KILLS.
This really, really hurts them. Between recutting and redistributing this ad, they're going to be down for at least a day. Maybe two.

14. I'll raise a toast to that
Personally, I think this is much ado about nothing, but even so it seems to have created an embarassment for the Bush administration at the critical end of the week. Friday will bury any attempts to recover momentum.

If this kind of detail is pricking them now, it shows just how vulnerable they are to attack of any kind.

19. On top of that, if they have any more "funny phonies" running that
haven't yet been spotted they can't afford to leave them out there because if one fake hurts, two would cripple.

This, combined with the dead letter files is just beautiful. They must be completely demoralize in the campaign. Love it.

28. Bush must accept responsibility, not the ad guy.
After all, he approved this message.

Another one falls on his sword for the fake king.

Everything about bush is fake:

Fake accent.
Fake promises.
Fake ranch.
Fake election.
Fake authority.
Fake reasons for sitting on his ass while the country was under attack.
Fake reasons for going war.
Fake flight suit.
Fake made-in-USA boxes.
Fake turkey for the troops.
Fake Christianity.
Fake photos in ads he's approved.
