Germany welcomes Libyan disco bomb offer
BERLIN - The German government welcomed Monday a Libyan offer of compensation to the victims of a terrorist attack 17 years ago on a Berlin discotheque.

Two US servicemen and a Turkish woman were killed and more than 200 people injured in the blast in the discotheque in what was then West Berlin.

The US administration led by President Ronald Reagan blamed Libya for the attack and a few days later US air forces launched devastating raids on the Libyan capital.

In November 2001, the Berlin State Court found the Libyan secret service responsible for the bombing.
