Bush Campaign Drops Song After Writer Complains
MANCHESTER, N.H. (Reuters) - The Bush campaign agreed on Friday to stop playing the 1976 hit "Still The One" -- by the band Orleans -- at Bush's rallies, after the song's writer, John Hall (news), protested its use by the president and backed the challenger, Democratic Sen. John Kerry (news - web sites).

"The song 'Still the One' will no longer be played at our rallies," said Nicolle Devenish, Bush campaign spokeswoman.

"The song is in the music catalog of the licensing company we use to provide music to our campaign rallies. But out of deference to Mr. Hall's views the song will no longer be played."

~snip~

Hall described himself as "strongly opposed to the re-election of the president" and "strongly in favor of Senator Kerry's election."

10. We'll see who's campaigning with him after the weekend!
Lots of people make up their minds on the final weekend. Not much can sway them on Monday or Tuesday. If the polls from the weekend look good for Kerry, watch Maria get some mystery illness so Ah-nuld has to run back and be with her!

9. Will the Bush campaign be fined?
They violated provisions of the DMCA, an act Bush supports.

The violation calls for penalties.

12. That is excellent!
I once hauled amps and equip with John Hall at a gig (they were warming up for Youngbloods).

I said to him (not knowing who he was) "I know this guy John Hall played with Bonnie Raitt and Taj Mahal, but who else?" The guy on the other end said "He got his first big break playing with Janis Joplin on the Peace Train in Canada."

Sure enough, when they took the stage, that guy was singing and playing guitar!

Tut-tut

24. Bush used "Still the one"?
"...we're still havin' fun, and you're still the one"

So he's claiming that war and terrorism and a failing economy is fun?
