Black Watch soldier dies

A BLACK Watch soldier today died when the vehicle he was travelling in overturned in Iraq's North Babil province.

The victim - who has not yet been named - is the first fatality of the battlegroup's deployment to "The Triangle of Death" south of Baghdad.

Three of his comrades also suffered slight injuries when their Warrior fighting vehicle crashed during the trip north to Camp Dogwood.

A British Army spokesman in Basra said: "We can confirm that a vehicle accident not involving hostile action occurred with the Black Watch battlegroup in North Babil province. "Sadly, one soldier from the Black Watch has died and a further three have suffered minor injuries and shock....
