HARTFORD, Conn. -- Even though public opinion polls are predicting Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry will win Connecticut, election officials are bracing for a huge turnout on Nov. 2 _ with voters energized by a close national race between Kerry and President Bush and two hot congressional contests.

Democratic Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz is predicting 80 percent or more of registered voters will show up at the polls. And many of those people will be new voters.

3. Long coattails would be good
We need a majority in at least one house of congress so we can thoroughly investigate and document the crimes that have gone on in the last four years in this country.

Kerry needs to heal the country. I'm cautiously optomistic he will win. However, we need to make it obvious to the whole damned country how damaging Bush was, in order to reverse the damage he's done.

More importantly, we need to push for a revival of the fairness doctrine. If the press had the teeth they had in 1973, bushco would never have been elected in the first place.
