Kerry Statement on Bin Laden Tape

West Palm Beach, FL – Senator John Kerry released the following statement today:

"In response to this tape from Osama bin Laden, let me make it clear, crystal clear. As Americans, we are absolutely united in our determination to hunt down and destroy Osama bin Laden and the terrorists. They are barbarians. And I will stop at absolutely nothing to hunt down, capture or kill the terrorists wherever they are, whatever it takes. Period.”

He's right not to use this tape as a platform to attack Bush, although he well could have.

26. You got it!
It testifies to Kerry the Statesman that he didn't succumb to the temptation of using this as a platform to attack Bush. Totally counters the Bush spin that Kerry will say or do anything to win.

Can't wait to see how * looks in comparison, although I think we can guess...

The tape was mind-boggling, but it essentially changes nothing. It does, however, make it crystal clear that OBL is alive, thriving, and not hiding in fear from anyone.

Osama bin Bush to the rescue! From the comfort of his Crawford, Texas ranch, Osama bin Bush stumps for his cousin George Wussy Bush.
The Bush-Laden cousins have long supported each other in international affairs and national politics and this year is no different.

Nothing "nuanced" about that statement. BTW, I agree that Kerry should not have politicized this. He went right after OBL and the terrorists. Now if Bush politicizes it, he looks crass and desperate.

15. But, if Bush uses this to attack Kerry...
Kerry can make this simple statement, "why in hell is this guy still floating around after 3 years?"

Like Howard Dean said, "How hard is it to catch a 6'5" guy dragging a dialysis machine after him?"

32. He just did it at his fer shite rally in Ohio with Ah-nuld
Called JK a flipper and said he once agreed with Tora Bora, now he's agin' it.

Amazing how that cocks...er will do and say absolutely ANYTHING to win.

I urge everyone who sees the media trying to spin this as a Bush strengthener to point out the following (do it in an email to them):

The GUY WHO GOT AWAY made the tape, the IDIOT who LET HIM GET AWAY does not merit any bounce for this, instead he should be hammered for it.

Bush's surrogates told us that USAMA WAS DEAD. This tells us the government does not have a clue.

Why can't they find a guy six and half feet high in a country full of people who average five eight?

What will weewee do now? The guy who is "not a priority" just threw down. Obviously, weecowboy is incabable of defending our nation/

17. Bin laden just made Bu$h look so.....impotent.
Edited on Fri Oct-29-04 05:30 PM by Zorra
President Kerry will succeed where Bu$h failed, because he'll go after the people that attacked us, unlike Bu$h, who attacked a totally irrelevant country when he should have been hunting bin Laden.

Bin Laden just dissed Bu$h so hard, he made a total mockery of him in front of the entire world.

Bin Laden just made Bu$h look totally impotent. Weak.

We need to get that fool Bu$h out of the WH before bin Laden kidnaps his ass and makes him plead for his life in front of the world.

25. Bin Laden killed 3,000 innocent Americans. That is unjustifiable.
And now Bu$h has invaded Iraq, and killed 100,000 innocent Iraqi civilians for no reason.

That is also unjustifiable.

If al Qaeda wanted to kill somebody on the grounds that you mentioned, they could have gone after the guilty parties - corporations, corporate owners and CEO's, and creeps like Bu$h and Cheney.

Instead, they murdered a bunch of regular folks - janitors, window washers, some minor executives, etc., most of whom probably wished no harm on any Islamic country whatsoever.

Here's the solution: We trade them Bu$h for bin Laden, even swap, and start over diplomatically from square one.

It struck me, precisely during the first debate, how truly presidential Kerry is. Actually, no, I attended a Kerry rally here in Seattle in May, and he seemed "in charge" then.
Kerry is someone who makes me feel safe. When he says he'll get bin Laden, he means it. Bush throws out some pseudo-tough talk, but we all know he's said he "(doesn't) spend much time thinking about (bin Laden)"
VIVA KERRY! :headbang:

33. I think at the very least the surrogates
need to point out that this illustrates that Bush "failed " to Get OBL "wanted dead or alive". I don't think cool works. They are already accusing us of using it as we speak, so why not use it? The electorate is not subtle and won't appreciate Kerry's cool. It will look calculated, the exact reverse of what they are trying to portray! JMHO

It's hyperbole. Diminishes the lasting impact.

39. October Surprise: Osama does * a favor
Gee, isn't anybody else a wee bit skeptical as to the timing of this video release? Not that it comes just days before our election - but, that it comes after several days of * being on the defensive over missing explosives in Iraq?

This will take the focus off of Al Qa Qaa and put it back on the "war" on "terror". And, we all know that * still does remarkably better in polls on this issue than does JFK II. Having bin Laden's face plastered all over television and the print media on Halloween weekend, of all times, will help Rove and Company remind people how scared they must be, and how the Rhinestone Cowboy is the only person who is fit to lead us through this time of terror.

Any thoughts?

Thanks, gang.

42. I'm glad I'm not trying to be a leader...
because I just jumped to a conclusion earlier before I knew all the facts.

After reading the translation of the bin Laden tape, he rips apart good ol' * and ridicules him mercilessly. The al-Qaida leader also goes into reasons why he ordered the 9-11 attacks. And - surprise - it wasn't because he and his gang "hates freedom," but it was because we refuse to stop meddling in the affairs of the Arabic nations.

Hmm. The U.S., meddling in the affairs of other nations? Nah. Never. That's crazy talk.

So, I therefore rebuke my earlier post. Yep - I'm now a flip-flopper, just like my presidential pick, Senator Kerry. At least I'm in good company.
