Democratic Vice Presidential Candidate Senator John Edwards' flight from North Carolina to the Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Airport in Wood County has been delayed because of a small fire on the plane.
Senator Edwards' plane was forced to return to the Raleigh-Durham Airport after a battery in the press cabin caught fire about five minutes after take-off.
A sound technician was changing a battery for his equipment when it burst into flames in his hands. The technician dropped the battery on a seat, which began smoldering.
Secret Service agents immediately came back to the cabin and extinguished the flames.
Senator Edwards, his wife and children were in the front cabin, a separate area from the reporters' seats.
No one was injured.
