Hurricanes displace Florida voters
State officials say they'll make sure everyone can vote
Saturday, October 30, 2004 Posted: 4:16 PM EDT (2016 GMT)

Voters cast early ballots electronically in a Miami, Florida, government building on October 18.

PENSACOLA, Florida (AP) -- The hurricanes that struck Florida this year left polling places in shambles and displaced thousands of voters, but election officials say they are taking steps to allow everyone the opportunity to cast a ballot November 2.

Gov. Jeb Bush issued an executive order allowing the U.S. Postal Service to forward absentee ballots -- a practice that's normally prohibited -- to make sure they get to residents whose homes were damaged or destroyed.

the hurricane tracked through Republican counties that went Bush in 2000...now that explains the executive order.

3. Will not help
Osceola County got Hit 3 times. We have Republicans calling in telling us they are/HAVE voted for Kerry this time. In 2000, the Hispanics was sucked into believing the Bushes. This time, they are energized for Kerry.

2. Contesting Voters
Republicans made a list based upon returned mail from their mail outs. NOW it is all making sence. People miss placed from the Hurricaines, may or may not be getting their mail. Hmmmm.....

Which means that Hurricaine victums may be harrased again. It's sad!

4. I can't figure how anyone keeps track of this. If your house
isn't there any more, how do you get mail if they are not forwarding it correctly, which happens often. If you moved to another county in some motel, what if you registered there and you are also registered at the old place. How do you get stopped if you double vote, once by absentee and once at the polling place.
