Bush Seeks Limit to Suits Over Voting Rights |
|
Bush administration lawyers argued in three closely contested states last week that only the Justice Department, and not voters themselves, may sue to enforce the voting rights set out in the Help America Vote Act, which was passed in the aftermath of the disputed 2000 election. http://www.latimes.com/news/yahoo/la-na-votesue29oct29,1,361122.story

1. When you don't have the voters, |
|
You have to figure out a way to balance the scales in you favor. This is the most ruthless, corrupt, anti-American administration in this nation's history. Let's get rid of it, huh?

2. Of course we can trust the Justice Department to do the proper thing |

They always stand up for the American people, right?

3. I'm sure tht's what they'd like but it can't happen.IMO. |
|
You'd be taking away the rights of every wronged person to seek justice. The Justice Dept. has the right to file a law suit if a law has been broken, but you can't take away the other half of our system.

10. No I don't trust Ashcroft, but I do still have a little faith in the court |
|
I think the courts will see it the same way I do and simply tell Justice thay can't do that. He sure has been TOLD in the past!

4. this, along with the "readiness response" drills |
|
are the two developments most troubling to me as election day approaches. Both have the potential of becoming very big problems.
Also: has anyone besides me noticed an increase of "testing" of the Emergency Broadcast System" over the course of the last two weeks?
Or is my foil hat on too tight? :tinfoilhat:

8. By the same token, I suggest a suit against these guys for trying to |
|
violate the civil rights of hundreds of thousands of Americans.
Fuck Asscroft, the man is as corrupt a public 'servant' as this country has ever had in it's history. That's the part of this that just friggin' kills me. This administration hasn't even bothered to try to hide it's agenda, it's corruption, and it's complete incompetence in every area (foreign policy, homeland security, the economy, health care, whatever it is they've screwed it up). So to allow them the determination of what suits should be filed in regard to this election is just another piece of blatant corruption and they're so arrogant that they don't give a damn how apparent it is.

13. This argument sounds like Fox News would say in answer to |
|
a lawsuit filed against them. Fox somehow always comes up with the most absurd arguments just like the Bush DOJ.
