Bush Relaxed, Confident Going Into Final Lap
By Steve Holland

CINCINNATI (Reuters) - By all accounts President Bush (news - web sites) is as relaxed as a man can be, given that his race for re-election is going down to the wire and his political career hangs in the balance of what happens on Tuesday.

Going into the final hours of the campaign Bush was described as optimistic and not giving any thought to losing. "Real upbeat," said chief adviser Karl Rove.

Bush makes a last 16-hour sweep through the swing states of Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Iowa and New Mexico on Monday and ends up with a rally in Dallas, Texas. He may make a stop or two to rally get-out-the-vote efforts on Election Day.

He is drawing energy from big, raucous crowds, and intent on executing the endgame of a plan that goes back months.

Apart from the journalistic excess, it makes Bush sound like one of those energy vampires he was complaining about in the 2000 election.... :)

17. Well, he looked like a feaking idiot tonight on
NBC! Smiling and chuckling a totally inappropriate moments. I guess he's substituted those expressions for when he really wants to grimace and pout.

The Tom Brokaw interviews tonight with first Kerry then Bush were so revealing. Frankly, I was a little pissed at Brokaw's confrontational and contentious tone with his questions for Kerry. But that was all erased when the Bush interview came on. The "confidence" wasn't there like it was with Kerry in no way shape or form. Bush's expressions while he was being asked questions about the war in Iraq, missing weapons, et al were nothing less than inappropriate. It was sickening on the one hand that this is the President of the US and uplifting at the same time for people to see what an utter failure this guy is.

33. Bush is so insulated he doesn't know half of what most (Dem) voters know
Bush only knows what his staff tells him. His medications probably make him even less curious that he would normally be. He probably won't concede if the election doesn't go his way because he won't believe he could have lost, what with the God and the public supporting him.

I really look forward to a Bush concession speach. Maybe Cheney will have to give it. If he loses Bush probably won't give a crap anymore since he's not running for office again.

They were able to steal the previous election with much less power than they have now. How on Earth will they fail to steal it this time with the power they have acquired while in office? They've been busy little bees for the past 3 years and I regret that there may be little we can do now besides hope that justice is served and democracy prevails.

68. one word: DIEBOLD
watch for the results in places with electronic voting-
my guess is:
* wins ALL touch screen equipped areas.
I mean 100% ALL--

BUT...
watch,
Kerry landslide at all traditional voting machines--
isn't this going to look funny?

I'll bet his is how they get busted this time.
There is no way that logically that could happen without a "fix"--

Now after this maybe more people will speak out and make sure their congressman votes to outlaw these touch screens.

61. I'll be with you tomorrow
My dear friends,
Tomorrow, a task of unthinkable dimensions lies ahead of you. As I said in one of my first posts here, in this election defeat isn't an option. My fellow left-leaning comrades, you're not fighting for your destiny only, the fate of the whole mankind is in your hands, and I'm optimist, really in an optimistic mood.

If the expected wave of new voters flock to the polling offices, we will win, this miserable piece of scum called George W. Bush will be toast, filling up the application for a vacant in the Carlyle Group. Four gloomy years of fear, fanatic fundies, endless war orwelian twisted political reasoning and, over all, an incompetence bordering, if not plainly crossing, the limits of criminal behaviour.

But as it's said, hope for the best but prepare for the worst. Dubya's might win - I know that is a nightmarish option, but the fascist brigades stole the presidency once - and then you'll suddenly become the last lines of defense against a tyrannic corporate-fascism ruling - not government - in the most powerful nation on earth.

I'm a member of the Spanish Socialist Workers Party (PSOE). Last 3-14
a tide of new voters took their ballots, in anger against Aznar's regime lies and manipulation, to oust one of the most ardent lackeys of Bush. Aznar's party used all the resources of power to deceive the spanish public opinion, tolling the bells of fear to take advantage of our very 9-11. Aznar, Bush, Howard, Berlusconi, Blair... disgusting blood-sucker creatures ...

OK, I know that this is just a rant, product of the blood boiling in my veins and the nerves being almost unbearable. I'd like to express myself with more eloquence to show my gratitude for your work and to wish you good luck. Go dems, don't stay home, every vote counts ... take intoa ccount that you're going to the polls, representing me and thousands like me all over the world, people that see tomorrow's election as the real fight of the forces of light against the myrmidons of darkness.

Just before going to bed (tomorrow I'll be glued to the computer, radio and tv news, about to be devoured by a monster with a head of cofee and claws of Lucky Strike filters)I have to recommend a website for the spanish speaking duers: www.cadenaser.com. Cadena SER is a spanish liberal radio station that's gonna make an incredible display to cover the election, more than twenty journalist sent from Spain located in the key places (you can listen it live from the site).

And if there's the slightest suspicion of fraud, don't give up, take your fight to the streets. I'll be with you, and also millions like me united in a cry for change.

Go dems, go...
