Schilling Makes Surprise Stop for Bush
WILMINGTON, Ohio - Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling made a surprise appearance Monday morning with President Bush (news - web sites), limping to the stage to give Bush a strong endorsement.
.........
Monday morning, he wore a protective boot over the ankle as he and his wife made their way to the stage inside an airplane hangar.

The ace pitcher said Bush was a commander in chief who will ensure troops "have everything they need to get the job done, a leader who believes in their mission and honors their service, a leader who has the courage and the character to stay on the offense against terrorism until the war is won."

Bush stood next to him, and they embraced afterward.

"On Tuesday, we need you to get out and vote. We need you to get your friends and neighbors out to vote — tell them you're voting for President Bush and get them on board, too," Schilling said. "I know everybody wants to be on a winning team, and there's plenty of room on this bandwagon."

1. Just because one is a successful sports figure
it does not mean anything he says is necessarily valid.
Honest, if he can say Chimpy is " a commander in chief who will ensure troops "have everything they need to get the job done,", what, I wonder will he make of the
CBS 60 minutes report that aried yesterday?

Let him rant.

24. My guess is that's why Schilling went ahead with his appearance.
Spiteful and vindictive. And VERY immature.

8. Schilling should ask who sent troops to Iraq without body armor
before he makes a false statement like that.

9. in war time
Is it really so impressive to tout ones broken leg or torn ligaments when thousands of our soldiers are in obscurity with missing limbs, innocent children also? In peacetime one can emote all one wants, but usually even
more credible deeds of valor and suffering(outside millionaire sports athletes) lose luster.

I am thinking of the Shackleton Antarctic expedition, one of the most impressive and harrowing tales of survival ever. The Brits had no truck with this voluntary adventure when hundreds of thousands were dying on the WWI battlefields.

Kerry tours with vets. Bush tours with a baseball star with a bum ankle.
America at war.

11. Another reason to despise wealthy right wing athletes.
Maybe Schilling should have watched "60 minutes" Sunday night before opening his trap. And since when is jumping on the bandwagon a good thing?

12. fuck that worthless piece of shit
I hated Schilling the moment he helped win the WS against the Yanks in 2001, I hated him even more when he became a Red Sox player, and now I feel like beating his worthless ass for pushing for the man who wants to destroy my future, your future, and the future for generations to come.

A lot of rich, middle-aged white guys play the game.

a bunch of millionaires most of whom have only a high school education...

Sounds like Republican heaven to me.

It really sucks, too, because I love baseball.

20. Personally...
I could care less what any professional athlete, rock star, actor/actress or anyone else of similar status says about their political choices - it makes no difference to me - at least no more so than my neighbor, or Joe down the street. I remember what Brad Pitt said in an interview about 6 months ago... I think it was Katie Couric who was interviewing him and asked him about who he was going to vote for. His reply was "What does it matter who I am voting for or what I think; I'm just an actor."

29. I Knew Schilling Was A Complete Tool
This confirms it. Another undereducated (didn't go to college to learn, went to the minors to picth) know-it-all. Not as smart as he thinks he is, and not educated enough to cover the deficiencies. Am i sufficiently unflattering?
