Terry Hicks is quoting from a letter his son, David, sent him. The letter describes long stretches in solitary confinement. It reads in part, "My entire life has become this tiny room and everything else is no longer reality."
David Hicks is a former cowboy who converted to Islam and was captured in Afghanistan in late 2001. He could be sentenced to life in prison if convicted on charges of conspiracy to commit war crimes, aiding the enemy and attempted murder.
