Spectacular attacks stop Iraq north oil flows
By Khaled Yacoub Oweis

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Saboteurs have mounted the most massive attacks yet on Iraq's oil system, blowing up three oil pipelines in the north and halting exports to Turkey.

The attacks, which were hours apart, sharply reduced crude oil supplies to Iraq's biggest refinery at Baiji. The government is already struggling to build up stock of refined oil products ahead of winter.

Sabotage against oil facilities in north and central Iraq has intensified in the past few weeks as U.S. forces attacked Sunni Muslim cities where insurgents have support. Imports of refined products have been also disrupted.

The first pipeline attack on Monday night destroyed a section of the Iraq-Turkey export pipeline in the Riyadh area, 65 kilometres southwest of the oil centre of Kirkuk, officials at the state North Oil Company said.

1. Looks like Iraq just voted in our election.
Winter's coming, too.

We've got to stay mobilized to help those who can't afford heating costs this year because of our DUMBASS foreign policy.

2. Cheney must be
hopping mad. He'll punish the soldiers who 'failed' to guard the fields somehow.

3. Yeah, he'll see that Halliburton gets more no-bid contracts
in there to clean up the mess.

This was indeed a "catastrophic success" for his company.

If they have a record turn-out it will be a cake-walk. Took 5 people to the polls 1st trip-- all were solid dems. Lines at 9;00 am unheard of.
