Powell: U.S. to Lead Any Multinational Iraq Force
Reuters

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States would command a multinational force for Iraq under a draft U.N. resolution being prepared by Washington, Secretary of State Colin Powell said Wednesday.

"The U.S. will remain the commander of the unified command" of a multinational force envisaged by the draft resolution, which also calls on the Iraqi Governing Council to submit a timetable for holding elections and eventually restoring sovereignty to Iraq, Powell told reporters.

From BBCWorld (TV) (paraphrasing):
Further during the press conference it was mentioned that the United States will present a draft resolution to the UN on wednesday or thursday. It will include a political timetable for elections and it will demand a multinational force in Iraq.

1. You mean, like the Cheese Eating Surrender Monkeys?
Aren't they busy helping in Afghanistan?

I hope the international community makes them grovel.

13. And where was Ted Nuget during Vietnam? Fucking slimy chickenhawk.
It also shows you how little he knows about American history. This would not be America if it were not for the French. What an ass, and he doesn't even know that he is an idiot.

Well Gee Colin
It's too bad that the President didn't listen to you last fall.
He didn't listen to the UN, the French, the Germans, Canada, or any of the countries that would have the resources to actually help with Iraq.

Certainly, Bush showed the world. Now the world is going to show Bush.
Surely Colin, you know how this game is played.

6. I'd take that bet. The UN now gets THEIR hands in the cash bag
And they are holding all the cards.

What do these things have in common
The chemicals in the drinking water near mines
Chinese knock down our spy plane
the North Korea situation
9/11
Afghanistan
Iraq

They all have one thing in common. Horiibly mismanaged (at best) by W&Co. and they had to turn their policy around 180 degrees as it became apparent that...........

THEY DON'T HAVE A F**KING CLUE AS TO WHAT THEY ARE DOING.

Wouldn't it be more profitable to shame Bush into a disgraced loss in 04'?

21. The nations corporations surely would like some of the "action"
Those guys aren't stupid. They must know that no matter how bad W screws up the media will cover for him and any number of tricks can be done with the votes/voting machines.

Remember that European papers/media were reporting on the 2000 florida voter purge 6 weeks BEFORE the election.

7. That is the OLD old Europe this is the NEW old Europe
I mean come on.

Wait until the foreign press jumps on them. It should be a real eye-opener for the 'Murkan people to see W&Co.'s abject failure as leaders thrown back in their collective faces.

BTW-Powell will have a golden opportunity to slam W&Co. for the initial year freeze out and sending him to the UN twice with nothing but lies and conjecture.

19. Response to this slowly coming in....
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/3076976.stm

According to Iraq expert Toby Dodge at the University of Warwick in the UK, the proposal to involve the UN is all "too little, too late".

"The danger now is that diluting the US presence might not do the trick. The resentment against the occupation is so great," Mr Dodge said.

27. Who would be foolish enough to send
their troops knowing that they are
nothing more than targets for unhappy
Iraqis and outside terrorists?

Only AWOL thinks the slaughter of
our troops is o.k. Anything to
support Halliburton.

20. Old Europe
I hope that the "cholocate making countries" of Old Europe tell Colon and Chimpy and von Dumbsfeld to go jump in a lake. The US broke it and the US will have to fix it. The UN can come in as leaders of the reconstruction after Resident Botch is de-selected next November.

22. If the UN tells them to take a hike?
Will Bush blame the mess he created on the UN? I bet that';s what he will do, after all he has yet to take any responsibility for any of his many failures in office or life.

24. Rummy and Wolfowitz
know this will be DOA at the UN. This is all for show so the chimp can tell the sheeple that the evil UN just can't be counted on to help us, thus we have no choice but to continue to go it alone in Iraq. Will give the BFEE cover to continue their for-profit rape of the country for the foreseeable future.
