House gets ready for 269-269 (GOP rule change for EV tie-breaker votes)
GOP ponders rule change in case the Electoral College ends up dead even

House Republican leaders are preparing a rule change that would establish new procedures to break an election tie if the Electoral College is deadlocked.

The rules would be considered in the new Congress, which would determine who becomes president if the Electoral College cannot do so.
................
The Constitution lays out how a tied election is to be decided. Each state gets to cast one vote in the House, and the candidate who gets a majority, 26 votes, wins. Republicans currently control 30 House delegations, which would give Bush a pronounced advantage.

But the Constitution is silent on how a state would decide how to assign its vote. That could create uncertainty. In 2000, for example, Rep. Connie Morella (R-Md.) said she would vote for Al Gore within her state caucus; her district voted for the vice president in his presidential bid.............

My gut has been wrong before (but for the right reasons), but I really feel like Kerry is going to blow this thing away.

3. This is one time I wish
we didn't have to make the subject line of our DU post match the article headline.

Here I posted the final Harris results ( very accurate in 2000 )

8. A vote from each state?
Forgive my ignorance, but isn't that what the Senate is for?
