(Patti) LaBelle Can't Think About Bush Winning

NEW YORK - If President Bush wins re-election on Tuesday, you'll see Patti LaBelle with reddened eyes on Wednesday.

The R&B diva, an ardent supporter of Democratic nominee John Kerry, said she "can't even think about it" happening.

"I'm going to cry a lot, but I know that's not going to happen, because too many people have come out of the sleep that they've been in," LaBelle told The Associated Press last week.

She acknowledges that she was in a sleep herself, as far as voting was concerned, for years.

"I've not always been a voter," the 60-year-old singer said.

"I started when (former President) Clinton was running for man of the year," she said, laughing. "As far as I'm concerned, I wish he could have stayed another eight."

Funny thing, though, Bush-Eats, my friends who were so sick of me all year for being so hyper-obsessed with this stuff have slowly each come around in their own time. One girl happened to watch Gore give a moving speech on cspan about two weeks ago and that was what triggered her.

And the funniest thing of all is that if Bill O'Reilly and Fox hadn't created all the publicity around Franken's use of "Fair and Balanced," I probably wouldn't have given a second thought. I was a moderate Franken fan from SNL, but the books? Nah...so Bill O'Reilly "gift wrapped" MY "moment" and handed it to me...
