Log Cabin Takes On GOP Over Gay Marriage
http://www.365gay.com/NewsContent/090303logGOP.htm

Gay Republicans in a rare split from the party line are openly battling GOP members of Congress and the white House over a proposed Amendment to the Constitution banning same-sex marriage.

Log Cabin Republicans Wednesday announced the launch of a nation-wide lobbying campaign targeting Republican elected officials and party leaders who support the ban.

Thursday, Senate Republicans plan to use a hearing at the Judiciary Committee to push for the Amendment

9. Republicans have guilt about any sex that is not procreative and
as a female I can imagine how bad in bed a republican man would be! I have been marrried a long time and never had a republican, but I bet they have sex hang ups.

12. Oh, I'm sure they can work up some guilt over procreative sex, too.
And they'll certainly guilt-trip any procreative sex outside of marriage.

Bwahahahahaha! Yeah, they'll get the GOP to support gay marriage. And I just saw a Vietnamese Pot-belly just glide over my head, too.

10. Someone once said...

...that the reason these Log Cabin guys exist and support the Repub party is because the only thing standing in the way of their becoming part of the good ole boy elite is that they are gay. From what I've read the Log Cabin Repubs are mostly white and male and well to do. If it weren't for that ONE hurdle--you know the one--they could rub elbows and smoke cigars with the big boys.

22. Judging from their "Convention Photos" you are correct....
All white, but very fit I must say, and delusional, which could not be detected in the photos. Kinda like a young republicans club minus the bad clothes.

11. Nowadays, being gay and GOP doesn't make a good fit.
The Party of Lincoln burned down the log cabin some years ago. And it has not recently proved to be the party of prosperity. It used to be 'out of the closet' -- now it needs to be 'out of the log cabin.'

14. If they only supported...
If they only supported GOPers that are pro-gay rights, that would be one thing. But LCR supports a lot of anti-gay rightists as well. If they promoted only the likes of Connie Morella I'd be less hostile to them.

16. good news!

Look, it doesn't matter whether the LCRs win or the Christian Right. Let's just hope there's a vigorous melee, with serious money spent and internal political casualties galore.

17. Agreed. Equal rights for gays is a wedge issue within
the republican party. If Bush could be forced to confront this issue he would alienate either moderate independents or the Reich wing fundamentalists. He needs both to win.

20. Have Democrats launched a campaign against the amendment?
The Democratic Party needs to take a stand against this amendment and they need to do a major media push to explain to people why it's wrong to make an amendment taking away rights from a group of people instead of protecting them.

It will be a sad day if a group of Republicans are the main group opposing it.
