US Ambassador (to Australia) to step aside next year

The United States Ambassador to Australia, Tom Schieffer, has announced he will end his posting.

Mr Schieffer says he has decided against continuing in the position and expects to leave Australia early next year.

In the past, the Ambassador has had strained relations with the federal Opposition over the Iraq war and comments by Labor leader Mark Latham strongly criticising US President George W Bush.

Mr Schieffer say he thinks it would be best for somebody else to represent the Bush administration during its second term in office.

Tom Schieffer was a Texas businessman who helped junior rip off the good Texans in setting up the new stadium for the Texas Rangers.

This appointment was a payoff for a Republican stooge. Schieffer had NO idea about diplomacy and spent the last 4 years pissing off the Australian people by interfering in our politics.
