Christian Coalition Responds to Alabama's Amendment Two Defeat
Amendment 2 would have removed segregationist language from the state Constitution that had been struck down by the courts years ago -- and thus invalid -- but was still part of the document.

Two years ago these assholes defeated an education reform package and pledged to work to bring about a better education reform package. We're still waiting.

MONTGOMERY, Ala., Nov. 3 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Christian Coalition of Alabama President John Giles responds to the defeat of Alabama's Amendment Two:

"When you give voters all the facts they make sound decisions. This vote would not have even been close had we discovered the flaw in this amendment earlier and published it in our 1.7 million Voter Guides. Everyone I talk to in this state wants to remove the racist language from the Constitution, as do I. We will immediately go to work with House and Senate members to rectify this in the next legislative session. We think the Governor may want to include this in his Executive Call for the Special Session in November.

"The Christian Coalition of Alabama will work to ensure that reckless trial lawyers and activist judges will not be able to open the floodgates to increase taxes and that private, Christian, parochial and home-school families will be protected. The Christian Coalition will lead the way to remove the racist language in the next election."

1. Okay, that's it. How the hell do we start removing tax exempt
status from these so-called christian organizations?

4. Wow, that seems really f'd up. Took me serveral readings to figure
out what it was all about (still tired). But it is definitely foobar. I agree that it is time to look at taking away that tax-exempt status. If they do the good works for the under-privleged that tax exempt status was based on, they can fill out some fricken itemized deduction like everyone else.

5. It's Self righteous claptrap
The "Christian Coalition" (it's neither) came up with this utterly false interpretation of the wording to manipulate its base into voting against it. Not a difficult thing to do, since Alabamians are conditioned from birth to cringe and foam at the mouth when the word "taxes" is mentioned. The only possible reason they would want to keep this racist language would have something to do with a possible run by Roy Moore for the Governorship, but even that makes little sense.

It can be a real trial to admit I reside in Alabama

7. In regards to your closing line.
Similarly, I have relatives who live in a suburb of Memphis, which happens to be in Mississippi. They NEVER tell people that they live in MS.

8. Blacks catch hell from these right-winged CONservatives...
You all don't see the way these right-winged Christian conservatives really act. As a black person, I see their UGLY side all the time. They wear these masks as if they're good people but down in side they're really not. They have such funky-assed attitudes. Not only that, white southern Christians had lynching parties after church where they even took pictures as souvenirs of dead black people hanging in trees. (I can provide you links to those pictures, if anyone is interested. They're very graphic.)

Personally, I KNOW these people because I unfortunately attended one of their so-called Christian private schools. Do you know what kind of crap they were teaching little kids in their Bible classes? They told us blacks were the "cursed" descendents of Ham.

They're truly evil!
