Analyst raises prospect of strikes on Iran
or as the Australian press says

"A veteran Washington correspondent and political author says George W Bush's resounding election victory will see him pursue a strong conservative agenda in his second term, possibly including support for military strikes against Iran.

Mr Bush has vowed to continue to pursue the war on terrorism and has promised to earn the trust of a country divided by a bitter election campaign.

Correspondent Martin Walker, now a senior editor with United Press International, says Mr Bush will pursue his conservative agenda with a strong mandate.

"I'm pretty sure we're going to see a real push to impose a very, very conservative set of justices on the Supreme Court," Walker told ABC TV's 7.30 Report"

2. There are many who believe that air power is all that is

needed, not to mention that we have 120,000 troops right next
door. As for "peace keeping" mission in Iraq, what better way
to use the new conscript troops.

The world is really going to love imperial Amerika!

9. 120,000 against 30 million? That works.
The effect of air power would simple send Iranians pouring across the border into Iraq to kill our people anyway they could find them. It would make serious allies of Iran and Iraq. Syria would support them with arms and money because Syria would figure out it's next.

120,000 up against sixty million.

A real Rumsfeld operation.

23. Mostly Pilots
Iran has not been taking a nap, as some seem to think, they do have a professional military, their AAA system is top of the line Russian.
They have infantry, mech infantry, airborne infantry, and armor divisions, hell evne their airforce is well trained. I would guess that the Iranians already have all the US/Coaliton bases locked on, I mean after all one "rag head" looks like any other one to our troops.

As for the 120,000 troops in Iraq, let them go ahead and turn towards
Iran, the insurgents will have RPG's and IED's up their backsides so fast they won't know what hit them.

And let's not forget that the Iranians have missiles that can hit damn near every US/Coalition base in the region. And for those who really believe that those Arab fishing boats are actually fishing, I would not be surprised if they aren't sending the exact locations and movements of US Naval forces.

All the Iranians have to do is a first strike against all US facilities in the Gulf, leave Israel alone, just concentrate on US
military and civilian targets. They are probably waiting for the first sign of a US strike, and at the same time that the US is bombing
their targets. The Iranians fire their missiles into Kuwait, Iraq, Oman, Qatar, and anti-ship missiles into the Gulf.

As long as they leave the Kurds alone, the Kurds will stay in the North, and as long as they fire on US targets only, I don't see any of our coalition allies putting the lives of their soldiers on the line for a US war.

As I said the Iranians have not been napping, they have always suspected that the US would start a war against them, and they have been preparing for it.

The perfect scenario would be to have the North Koreans cross the DMZ at the same time, but only go as far as Seoul, and stop there. As for the use of any kind of nukes. That would definitely undo the coalition, and I don't believe that the Japanese or the Chinese would be very happy about the use of nukes in their part of the world either.

And as we all know preventive war is perfectly legal under the Bush doctrine, and the Iranians have already stated that the US does not have a monopoly on that doctrine.

Food for thought.

6. Can you say DRAFT
General conscription. It will be just another broken promise. I think Bush feels as long as he goes to church living like hell all week is OK.

Condi Rice came out a few months ago and said that in '05 they would pursue the overthrow of Iran. Think about it, they are doing everything that they have wanted to. Now that Bush does not have to face another election why should he care what we think. He has a majority on the Supreme Court, a majority in the House of Reps, and a staggering majority in the Senate. Frist has already come out and said that there will be civility. Why? In my opinion, because there is no opposition in D.C. anymore.

18. Nuclear
the war with Iran will be nuclear. No need for massive amounts of troops.

The neocons believe if they strike Iran, they will cut off the source of the insurgents in Iraq. I expect the invasion to take place in less than a year.

seriously though, his minions are quite similar to the palestinian grandmothers who are interviewed and lament the fact that the latest suicide bomber was her last grandson..and she wished she had MORE to donate to the cause:eyes:

7. I'm not so sure
They all froth about "the cause" (sounds so civil war) and how it's worth dying for until they or their children are asked to do the dying. I know lots of fundies with children and grandchildren approaching the age of servitude and their attitudes will change dramatically when it gets personal. I do agree that the damage that will be done to this country may well be insurmountable and irreparable.

War with Iran.

They know the reasons given are b.s. AND THEY DON'T CARE.

They want war- at any cost to this country or the world. Or their own souls.
