Lebanese ayatollah warns U.S.
Lebanon's top Shiite Muslim cleric warned that Iraqi Shiites would join the armed resistance against U.S. and British forces if the occupation of Iraq persisted for too long.

Grand Ayatollah Sheik Mohammed Hussein Fadlallah said Iraqi Shiite political leaders and clerics have been united in their rejection of the occupation and in their public calls for U.S. and British forces to leave the country.

"So far, the (anti-U.S.) resistance does not have clear objectives. When we examine the message of (Iraqi) Shiite leaders and clerics, we find that there is a single voice in rejecting the occupation and in calling on the occupation to leave Iraq to the Iraqis," Fadlallah said in a live interview with the Lebanese Future television station late Tuesday.

"(Joining the resistance) is not very far if the occupation continues to afflict the Iraqis, becoming a tool to restrict the Iraqis' freedom," he said.

Maybe he still has in the back of his mind that massacre that ensued from the failed CIA hit on him, and he knows damn well what it's like to live in a country under murderous occupation. He being one of the highest achieved and most respected Shia authority, and also an important inspiration to the resistance that liberated Lebanon, hopefully some US/UK officials are listening good and close at what he says to not avoid the same mistakes. Fadlallah was close to Hakim through the past Shia leader Mohammed Baqir al-Sadr and the resurgence of the Shias that came out of the international movement many of them were a part of in the past decades, but I wasn't aware he was a cousin of him also.

Saw an article referring to Abdelaziz al-Hakim playing down the idea of Shias resisting the occupation forces now, but I doubt he can justify continued collaboration (even on a cautious and distant scale) to SAIRI after all of the good it's gotten them so far, also noticed a picture on Yahoo of the Badr Corps now being far more outfront in guarding their important people and the mosques.

If the parallel to Lebanon holds, all it needs is something similar to just one insult on Ashura to go to hell quick (the goons who planned this war are smart, I think the next such is months from now, but it was a year into Israel's occupation of Lebanon before they busted up an Ashura gathering in Nabatiyah that set off the resistance that would later become Hizbullah).

4. I think US can count on an increased scarcity of collaborators

I don't know how many people (outside the US) really think the mosque hit was an Iraqi operation, but the police station bombing and all the other individual dead collaborators that don't make Reuters will result in a decrease in willing dollahos, especially ones who really have any goods.

Plus I think we will see increased Shia-Sunni cooperation, on a level unprecedented in history, as people unite to fight off the Crusaders.

right in the middle of the police HQ, had to have moved past many places where trained people should be guarding and sorta kinda looking out for exactly that sort of thing.. the boys back in the homeland that got us into this mess probably need a clean pair of shorts now that their adventure is heading south quick.

6. I think Halliburton and Bechtel are pleased with the way things are going

Everyone who was intended to make money is making money.

Instability in the entire region is growing daily, looking mighty fine for making even more money!
