Anti-war protest disrupts traffic (Bellingham, WA)
Demonstrators disperse after police threaten to make mass arrests
Jon Gambrell, The Bellingham Herald

A moving protest snarled traffic for more than an hour in downtown Bellingham Wednesday afternoon and brought police in riot gear before ending.

The protest, sparked by President George W. Bush's re-election, included more than 300 people at its height. Starting on the grounds of Western Washington University's Performing Arts Center, the protest moved through downtown Bellingham, escorted by police on motorcycles and bicycles.

Protesters stopped and held a sit-in at the intersection of West Magnolia Street and Cornwall Avenue, then later stopped at North State and East Chestnut streets. While there, protesters held up afternoon traffic, refusing to leave. Police threatened to arrest protesters, but the crowd ultimately returned to campus.

I'll try to post pics!

There was a little flag-burning, and the student was arrested for starting a fire on school grounds.

2. I heard that this was actually an anti-Bush protest...
on last night's news and that Portland had a similar one with police in riot gear.

7. Thank you God
for my state, will you others join us?

these soldiers were spared death in Vietnam:

isn't it more noble to bring them home, spare their lives to face us? We owe them that.

10. We'll be fighting in the streets

with our children at our feet.
And the morals that they worship will be gone.
And the men who spurred us on
Sit in judgement of all wrong
They decide and the shotgun sings the song

I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again

The change, it had to come
We knew it all along
We were liberated from the fold, that's all
And the world looks just the same
And history ain't changed
'Cause the banners, they are flown in the next war

I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
No, no!

I'll move myself and my family aside
If we happen to be left half alive
I'll get all my papers and smile at the sky
Though I know that the hypnotized never lie
Do ya?

There's nothing in the streets
Looks any different to me
And the slogans are replaced, by-the-bye
And the parting on the left
Are now parting on the right
And the beards have all grown longer overnight

I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
Don't get fooled again
No, no!

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

Meet the new boss
Same as the old boss
