Bush Outlines Agenda for Second Term
Edited on Thu Nov-04-04 06:23 PM by TexasBushwhacker
By JENNIFER LOVEN, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - A minority president no more, President Bush (news - web sites) sketched a second-term agenda Thursday that includes fighting the worldwide war on terror while seeking tax and Social Security (news - web sites) reform.

"I earned capital in the campaign — political capital — and now I intend to spend it," he said at a news conference 24 hours after securing his second term.

Bush also pledged to pursue the foreign policy that was a flashpoint in the presidential campaign and has sparked criticism by some American allies in Europe.

"There is a certain attitude in the world by some that says that it's a waste of time to try to promote free societies in parts of the world," he said, a reference to Iraq (news - web sites) in particular. "I've heard that criticism."

"Remember, I went to London to talk about our vision of spreading freedom throughout the greater Middle East and I fully understand that that might rankle some and be viewed by some as folly."

Sounds like more of that "My way or the highway" type of thinking. Hang on kids, it's going to be a bumpy ride.

(On edit - Sorry, forgot the link. My bad)

1. You heard the man -- He EARNED It
"I earned capital in the campaign — political capital — and now I intend to spend it," he said at a news conference 24 hours after securing his second term.

Still "Born on Third Base, thinks he hit a Triple."

2. How can he do it without the draft?
He can't spread democracy if people don't want it. It's a historical fact.

3. WTF?
"Remember, I went to London to talk about our vision of spreading freedom throughout the greater Middle East and I fully understand that that might rankle some and be viewed by some as folly."

Since when did it become about this? Oh that's right - it always has been. But we weren't told that, we were told WMD's, mushroom clouds, etc. DOES NO ONE CARE ABOUT THIS SHIT?

I guess it's OK to be in the open about "spreading freedom" now since the neocons are in compete control.

5. Yellow Rogue (*), here's what I remember . . .
--you said we went to Iraq because of the need to defend against an immediate threat involving WMD deployable in 45 minutes

--"spreading freedom" isn't a legal reason to make war and invade sovereign countries

--liberation alone is not justification for war

You misled the world, and now you're planning to continue to mislead us, and I for one, will never forget that you are a lying sack of s**t.

7. Alternate Headline: "Corporate America Outlines Agenda For Second Term"
"tax and Social Security reform." = Privatization

"and now I intend to spend it" = God help all of you moderates and liberals, your worst nightmare is upon you

"pledged to pursue the foreign policy" = "We need breathing room!"

15. "Fuck you, I got mine." The new Republican mantra.
Makes me sick to my fucking stomach. "I earned capital in the campaign — political capital — and now I intend to spend it." Yeah, 52% of the as yet not completely counted vote is a real mandate you fucking dimwit.

16. Autocratic decisions without regard to others = DICTATOR!
Well, to Shrub's credit he did state that "it would be easier being a dictator" early in his 1st term. I guess we now see that he was really serious.
