in the republican party...according to ABC news...even to the point of party abandonment if the need should arise...Bush came out strong on his agenda and the "capital" he has to spend and it is going to have very strong leanings to the right...I say ...it will be interesting...ABC pointed out that the mod.repubs.may be voting with the dems..on some issues...I think it is time the country found out what power the religious right has gained...it is time that the country did and I have hope it is not too late. I believe it was Spector that was interviewed and also concern was expressed about possible supreme court appointments....

What an interesting development.
What if a specific number of just enough moderates, enough to tip things to even, either declare independent or Dem.

That would be quite the little sideshow.

7. Don't forget about
Club for Growth. They seek to chase any repub who doesn't dive to the right. They will alienate most of the mods.

8. Don't kid yourself
They will walk in lock step just like the army , or it will be a sad day for them, that little dumb son, will stop at nothing, he won't fail to twist a moderate arm if the need arises..The only thing that is going to wake up the south and some other places is another great depression, and I'm not too sure their wont be one coming in about 6 to 18 months.

are two of the moderates... seems Hagel isn't entirely on board with Shrubya, either.

9. Why is it that the only way to beat the Republicans anymore
Edited on Thu Nov-04-04 07:22 PM by WatchWhatISay
is with the help of other Republicans. Thats the only way we make any progress any more, or the only thing that saves us sometimes.

I am thinking that the Democratic party has been so damaged by the media/corporate/Bush combo that the only way to fight may be from within the Republican party. Sounds disgusting, I know, but if its the only way to save Democracy in this country?

We need the moderate Republicans on our side. Or they need us on their side.

12. What if we just let them ram their crazy shit through congress these
next 2 years?

I don't think anyone in the center will really like it.

Then we take back the country?

Sounds like a stupid plan, but it would show the vast majority just what these guys REALLY want.

13. Blue Dog/Boll Weevil Republicans.
I sort of figured that once the Repubs really became a large and dominant force in Congress they would start to factionalize.

15. This is really our only hope right now.
Don't forget Watergate... a lot of Republicans crossed the aisle to get rid of Nixon. I know it's a different era... but just maybe we'll see a check on Duhbya's power.

16. this is why we need a new party to rid the US of crooks
We need these republicans and the Democrats like myself who consider the Democratic Party to be completely dead to come together and collude to get the crooks out of politics.

I don't think anything else will work. Most republicans have sold their souls to the Neo-Cons. We need to reach across the aisle to the good ones, and say "let's go get these creeps".

The fate of the country is literally at stake here.

The Democratic party can't do it.

We need a new party that includes these honest republicans.

18. So why did they support him?
Geez, the moderate republicans had to know what this guy was about. Still they supported him, voted for him. Only Lincoln Chaffee and a handful of no longer in office Repugs took a stand.

We shall see. I'm not going to hold my breath.
