27. If the votes were counted...
Florida is a real possiblity. There are areas that I KNOW are off.

example..
pct with 4,500 voters. 50% Democrat, 25% Republican, 25% "other." 75% of the voters voted.

Out of all that, Kerry came away with only about 170 more votes then Bush????? Kinda smells... doesn't it?

But it seems like the Democratic party isn't intrested in counting the votes. What is the point of GOTV???

43. No shit, did you catch the Daily Show
footage of that pompous assBush insisting during his press conference that a one-question press rule was the will of the people?

He actually said that.

"You've already asked one question. You've broken the one question rule. Don't you respect the will of the people?" or something to that effect, but I'm not exaggerating. What a smug shit head.

I hope the press finally realizes what a monster they have created and they do the best Woodward and Bernstein imitation possible to bring the goober down.

But to follow up your what's the point question, wasn't there a thread somewhere indicating there were still a lot of absentee ballots from Boulder County, Colorado still being counted? The post kinda made it sound like Colorado could possibly be inching toward closer numbers, and, this is my assumption, a recount?

34. John Kerry is staying above the fray
Edited on Thu Nov-04-04 10:57 PM by Straight Shooter
Legally, his concession meant diddly. Edwards, remember, was shouting with fireworks. He was the actual messenger. These men are professionals.

One reason we got screwed in 2000 is because the recount was all about Al Gore, I'm sorry to say. People associated the recount with Gore being a "sore loser." He was in it up to his eyeballs, especially with bush filing suit. bush won't file suit again, it will look extremely suspicious. That's why he grabbed the crown so fast and rammed it onto his pointed head. It's all about who claims to be King of the Hill first.

Notice how all the media is saying how "gracious" Kerry is. When all votes are counted, and Kerry comes out ahead, no one will be angry with him. Stunned, maybe. But not angry.

*fingers crossed, praying fervently*

And why do you think bush is moving so damn fast to implement his agendas. Jeebers, not even a breather and he has hit the ground running!

edit to clarify the media can't be angry; they've already patted him on the back for his concession "performance." And believe me, it was a performance, all about kids and how heartfelt the whole experience has been and coming together to unite and heal.

75. I think you hit the nail on the head....its not over really...Dec 13th is
...the date to watch....

Wouldn't be interesting if when the Electoral college met their were defectors? And if between then and now additional info surfaces and votes actually counted and verified, then its possible we would have the real "surprise"....My theory is similar to yours about Kerry's concession....I've actually thought of the scenario you suggest and also that it was a shrewd political move, even if he was defeated. My hunch is that also with Daschles departure, Kerry is the clear choice for the position of Senate Minority Leader to be the one to lead...imagine that and John Edwards the head of the DNC.....and then a run in 2008 for the White House again...

35. Absentee vote tallied
Absentee vote tallied
By Carrie Seidman, Ed Asher and Jennifer W. Sanchez
Tribune Reporters

<SNIP>
The process of hand-counting absentee ballots that were rejected by the optical scanning machines ended Wednesday night. Bernalillo County Clerk Mary Herrera said this morning the absentee ballot count total - including all those counted by machine - favored presidential candidate John Kerry. Kerry garnered 32,010 absentee votes; President Bush received 27,297.
The outcome of the race, of course, was decided two days ago and did not change in the slightest with the addition of the 59,307 votes.

<SNIP>
The county still has about 13,000 provisional ballots to validate. Provisional ballots are issued to voters who for one reason or another were told they couldn't vote - some weren't on the poll list; others were shown to have received absentee ballots.

36. Winston Churchill is the inspiration here

"the gratitude of every home in our states, in our commonwealth, and indeed throughout the world, except in the abodes of the guilty, goes out to the american election activists who, undaunted by odds, unwearied in their constant challenge and mortal danger, are turning the tide of the 3rd World War by their prowess and by their devotion.

Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few. All hearts go out to the election activists, whose brilliant actions we see with our own eyes day after day"

"I expect that the Battle for democracy in america is about to begin. Upon this battle depends the survival of Christian civilization. Upon it depends our own amercian life, and the long continuity of our institutions and our country. The whole fury and might of the enemy must very soon be turned on us. Bush knows that he will have to break us in this country or lose the war. If we can stand up to him, all America may be free and the life of the world may move forward into broad, sunlit uplands. But if we fail, then the whole world, including the United States, including all that we have known and cared for, will sink into the abyss of a new Dark Age made more sinister, and perhaps more protracted, by the lights of perverted science. Let us therefore brace ourselves to our duties, and so bear ourselves that, if the US and its freedoms last for a thousand years, men will still say, "This was their finest hour."

Its your country

Go out and save it from the fascists

Now

Nostradamus

39. I have thought a lot of Churchill
Sure, he was a conservative, but he knew you had to fight fascists, when it came down to the final show. Churchill was a champion, and he would have died if Hitler would have prevailed, but that sort doesn't come around very often. I thought Kerry had that in him, because millions will die now that Bush has been given the high ground. I can't believe Kerry gave up in less than 24 hours.

If it means Bush doesn't appoint judges, it's a success. Actually if it prevents anything of Bush's agenda from happening, it's a success. But the other half of the country won't figure that part out til it's too late.

85. Well, I Don't Know About That...
In 2000, bush lost the popular vote, and for the first six months tried to govern as if he'd won in a landslide.

In 1995, after having swept into majorities in both houses, the Republicans tried to marginalize Clinton -- insisting he was no longer relevant. They shut down the government, and paid for it in the next election.

In 2005, Kerry could still govern -- especially if he legitimately tried to reach out across the aisle. No "agree with me or get left behind" rhetoric from this guy. The funny part is, if Kerry somehow pulled this out and took the Presidency, it would be the REPUBLICANS trying to marginalize him, citing "no mandate."

Now THAT would be a recipe for failure...

54. Does anyone know the statistics of exit polling?
I always thought they were pretty darned accurate, until 2000.

I guess, I could make that a project.

80. WHERE IS YOUR SOURCE???
This thread has been open for over sixteen hours, and all we've heard from the original poster is "Looks like NM is going for Kerry, just heard on AlbQ news"

How is this a vaild LBN thread?

It appears to be a lot of hearsay, maybe a troll to get our hopes up.

89. I think it is weird that more people voted democrat for the
representatives than for Kerry in NM

KE 331162
BC 333324

Dist 1
D 116105
R 140481
R 241

Dist 2
D 79061
R 118826

Dist 3
D 143913
R 61658

See? Add all the Dems together and you get 339079 vs 331162 for Kerry. I don't know much about NM, is this possible that 8000 people would split their vote?
