THE Black Watch soldiers had been on their first day of patrol in the 'triangle of death' when the Iraqi rebels attacked.
Just days earlier, they had arrived at Camp Dogwood near Baghdad to support US forces - and received a ferocious welcome from insurgents.
The base, formerly under American control, has been hit by a series of mortar strikes - although until yesterday no casualties had been reported.
But last night, news broke that three Black Watch soldiers had been killed in a highly orchestrated ambush.
Eight more soldiers were injured, three of them seriously and one critically.
An Iraqi interpreter who was travelling with them is also understood to have been killed....more: http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/tm_objectid=14836235&method=full&siteid=89488&headline=dogwood-death-trap-name_page.html

but at least we don't have to watch lesbians and gay men get married any more! :eyes: </sarcasm> This is just too much, too tragic. If you haven't seen Michael Moore's message today, check it out. It made me cry: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x2600115

2. I am done with this.... |
|
I have posted and screamed about the senseless death and destruction in Iraq for over a year. The US has spoken and they want more of the same, even if it is their own offspring fighting. Have at it zombies, I am not crying over your war anymore....

55.4 MILLION of us voted against Bush and against his tragic war.
Checking out is the same as falling in line with them.
Don't let the pain drive you away. Use it to fight harder.

14. Rest up. In time you'll be okay and the energy to fight will be there... |

we're all down. Easy does it. You're gonna be okay. It takes time. Rest, regroup, take a breather and restore your spirit and energy. Tomorrow's another day. :-)

I have a ten year old son who has participated in protests and with the Kerry campaign with me and I am at a loss for words for him as to what has happened. Bereft seems to explain my how I feel right now. Thank you for your kind thoughts.

to have judged your reaction to this debacle.
You are entitled to your pain. But I hope you recover and rejoin the fight.
Look around...there are fundies but there are also many of us who still want to end the war.

7. I saw a news clip where they were talking to soldiers in Iraq about |
|
Bush winning and they were glad. I guess I don't need to be as upset anymore.
I now have the attitude that when the Bush voters get to deal with the repercussions of a BushCo Administration they are getting what they deserve. Of course, not all the soldiers voted for Bush. I wish they would split them into blue and red cammo, but then we all know which ones would be put out in front, don't we?
(I hope the bitterness wears off soon because I soooo don't sound like myself right now.) :-(
