'Govern-ator' plots presidential course

Friday, 05 November , 2004, 04:17
Los Angeles: He didn't win the poll. In fact he wasn't even a candidate. But California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger crowned his election day with a rousing victory speech worthy of a president.

Just days after admitting that he is ultimately eyeing a White House bid, the Austrian-born action star appeared before a screaming crowd in Los Angeles in triumphant style following Tuesday's US presidential elections. | Slide show: Bush & friends celebrate comeback |

More than 14 hours before US President George W Bush made his own victory speech following the cliffhanger poll that was ultimately decided by the crucial state of Ohio, where Schwarzenegger last week swaggered into battle for Bush, the "Govern-ator" was being cheered to the rafters.

The beaming Schwarzenegger, who assumed his first political office as leader of the golden state less than one year ago, reigned supreme over his "Join Arnold Victory Party" in Los Angeles late Tuesday.

Even though his name was not on the ballot, Schwarzenegger emerged from the campaign, seen by many as a referendum on his still young rule, looking like a populist winner strengthened for his own re-election battle in 2006.

17. Keep spreading this picture around...

Pictures don't lie! (this is from the feed of the Brit TV show the Gropenator was on).

Ann Richardson, the person who had to interview Ahnold before he went on the show, was herself grabbed and he squeezed her breast. She is now suing him and his manager for libel under the generous libel laws of England for saying that she asked for him to fondle her!

The lady being groped on the butt and thigh by the Gropenator is ANOTHER woman, Denise Van Outen, the actual host of the show.  She is not suing, but Richardson was cleared yesterday by the courts to sue the Governor of Kalifornia.

32. "Demoliton Man"
Slyvester Salone had a futuristic movie where the constitution was changed so the gropenator could be president. I some time believe the right wing gets all it's ideas from movies, even though they complain about them all the time. Oh, the movie is certainly not a great one, but fun to watch as it has a lot of one liners, especially by Sandra Bullock. In the movie there is no sex as we know it, no sharing of any body fluids, no smoking, swearing, even certain food products become illegal - damn maybe it is the map the right wing is following.

2. In the normal USA, I'd
say, never gonna happen. But after this election, I'd say it's probably likely, and that thought disgust me further. Is there no depth too low for this country anymore.

4. This guy is one of the biggest phonies around.....
His speech at the RNC was filled with "heartfelt anecdotes" of his life in Austria that could never have happened. Remember, he praised Nixon and compared HHH to east bloc dictators. I don't think he could swing the fundamentalist churches with his pro-abortion stance.

21. I have bad news for you
Dubya will find a way to make Ah-nold legit for 2012, if not 2008. Watch and see.

And sad as it may seem, now that we know this country will vote for a village idiot, the Gropenator now is a credible candidate.

the bill to retract that language to favor citizens like Arnold passes and gets to the states for ratification. If the GOP puts the bill on its fast track, it could pass this coming session and the states could ratify it within a couple of years. Just in time for a 2008 bid. However, that would require a good number of Democrats to vote for this bill as it requires a 2/3 vote in the House and Senate as well as 2/3 majority of all the states.

The states have 7 years to ratify the Amendment once passed by Congress and they are free to vote on it as many times as possible within that time frame.

16. Correction
A 2/3 majority is required in 3/4 of the state legislatures, which would be 37 states--still difficult.

22. What states would pass the constitutional amendment?
Schwarzenegger does not pass the GOP "moral values" test. All the Dems would have to do to stop this from happening would be to remind the states in "Jesusland" that a French person could become president if such a constitutional amendment passes.

26. non-issue
He's a non-issue, and I hope he stays the way he is because the more moderate he is the less support the fundies will throw to him, same idea as Giuliani and probably McCain. As unfortunate as it is, if we were to run against him today, we'd win most likely based on the fact that he won't get the support of the Pat Robertsons and Jerry Falwells. Maybe someone can confirm this, but didn't Dole get an Anemic response from the religious right when they got the hint that he wouldn't pander to them like the dog Bush is?

28. Schwarzenegger calls Democrats "Losers"
I'm sure this might have already leaked out somewhere in these forums, but on the local news tonight (I live in Southern California), apparently this morning at a press conference, Ahnold was asked if he would include the House Democrats in his tax proposals, and his response (with a smile) was, "Why would I want to include the losers..." Incredible the crap they get away with...

29. Art imitating life
There was some Stallone movie(Demolition Man maybe?)where Stallone is some how transported into the future and someone is running down the list of things that happened while he was in a cryo-chamber or whatever. Anyway, one of the things they said was "President Schwarzenegger and the changing of the U.S. Constitution. That was back in 1993, I think they have been priming him and us for his eventual run for the Presidency. God help us!

30. My feeling is he is being groomed.......
just as Bush was. They know nothing, but make great front men, and Arnold will be very electable just based on who he is and not about his qualifications. That way they can just continue on down that path of pillage and destruction that they have started with Bush. Remember the energy meeting he was involved with before he became Governor of California? The one he couldn't remmeber attending? Well, they couldn't wait to recall Davis and get him in to tide over the whole Enron bilking Californians business. He is part of the team.

31. What will stop him
There are A LOT of ambitious neo-Fascists in the GOP.

He will have to fight to have the Constitution changed, then fight to win the primary, then fight to win the election.

When it comes to Machiavellian malice, Arnold is strictly a girly-man.
