Iraq PM pledges to 'liberate' Falluja
Iraq's interim Prime Minister Iyad Allawi has vowed to "liberate" Falluja amid growing expectation that a major assault is imminent.
US troops have closed all roads in and out of the rebel-held city and Iraqi troops have taken up position nearby.

The BBC's Paul Wood, with US marines, says a substantial ground force is entering the outskirts of the city.

Previous assaults on the city have left large numbers of civilians dead and most of the city's population has fled.

Our correspondent, who is working under US military censorship, says it is not clear whether the Iraqi leader has given the final order to begin the assault.

3. Fallujagrad
Fallujagrad

The “Real Iraqi Resistance” has already left Fallujagrad..

The only ones remaining are a few die hards that want to kill as many amerikans as possible
before they die. They have set thousands of mines and booby traps.

The war in Iraq-Nam is only starting.

It will be the WARSAW GHETTO part 2

5. Liberating Fallujah from the people of Fallujah.
That's a brilliant military tactic if you ask me.

9. That's a funny
... it is not clear whether the Iraqi leader has given the final order to begin the assault.

Right, like Allawi is the one giving orders around there. Too bad the BBC has been cowed into compliance with the official truth.

As an aside, "liberating" a city from its native population sounds a little preposterous.

10. Liberating them from themselves
Where have I heard that before?

"And now we are told that the men who fought there must watch quietly while American lives are lost so that we can exercise the incredible arrogance of Vietnamizing the Vietnamese."

13. Why is Allawi
given authority to send our armies into battle. He should use the 'Iraqi armies'

What happened to no American Armies under a foreign commander? You know like get US out of the UN and stuff like that there. Impeach Earl Warren. Have you kissed your truck today? America first. Where are you people now?

14. No kidding
While I'm sure Allawi is nowhere near a position where he is deciding what American troops should do in his country, the fact that phrases such as "ordering American troops into battle" can be used with impunity by the media is very telling. Remember the outcry after Mogadishu and whole hand-wringing over the chain of command in the Balkans?

16. Yes Chain of Command
American troops will not serve under a foreign commander. Unless Bush** so orders it.

17. The words may be coming out of
Allawi's mouth, but they are originating in Cheney, Rummy, and Wolfowitz's evil brains. I suggest that every moron in America who voted for the chimp should be on his or way to help the effort. Fallujah or bust.
