1. Indirect fire attack - are they talking about rockets & mortars?
Sometimes mil-speak escapes me.

4. Probably mortars
Which means:
A) The Iraqis have a bead on the base, but we knew that.
B) They might have been miles away when it fired, since they've been known to use 'timed' mortar attacks now (fuse on a timer).

7. Not nearly enough.
He trusts his cabinet will let him know if there's anything which needs his immediate attention. He DOES have so much celebrating to do, after all, his country gave him a lot of capital during the last election, and he's going to spend it!

Maybe dancing with Ricky will help.

We're supposed to remember those men are all VOLUNTEERS,after all! They knew there were risks when they decided to volunteer. That's what Republicans tell us.

6. Nothin' but thing
I stopped counting and after a year and a half of keeping the USMC Iraq Memorial on my site have pulled it down. Amerika wants this, they voted for it when they cast their ballots or as in the case of the over 100,000,000 who stayed home said so with apathy. This isn't Viet Nam again, yes there are similarities, but this crusade is much darker with consequences that will reach our shores. Good luck with your honorable illegal war Amerika. But the blood of the Iraqis is on your hands and when you come for my draft age sons, well, then you will find out what a true Patriot is.

Gunny C
Ex-USMC

And here is your new Semper Fi page

Semper Fi - Always Faithful - it only applies to America, not Amerika.

8. Yikes Gunny--- Holy Shit. (The man is pissed)
I stil have a few mixed feelings. But agree in principle here

There are a lot of Thugs and murderers joining the service to kill rag heads.

I fear that after the "NEXT ATTACK" these MFs will sell out the country.

This is why a few spare "tools for defense" laying around are a good thing. (sorry Mr. Benchley)

9. can't argue with you sir.....
most ameriKans certainly do seem to want the bloodshed for their freedoms and all. I certainly don't and I did my best to stop it to no avail. They aren't getting their bloody hands on my boys either.

12:11 pm: Americans step up attacks against Fallujah, close roads as showdown with insurgents looms

By JIM KRANE | Associated Press
November 5, 2004

NEAR FALLUJAH, Iraq - More than 10,000 U.S. soldiers and Marines have taken positions around Fallujah for an expected assault, as U.S. jets Friday pummeled insurgent targets and troops blocked key roads. Iraq's prime minister warned the "window is closing" to avert an offensive.

Insurgents struck back Friday, killing one U.S. soldier and wounding five others in a rocket attack on a U.S. position. Clashes were reported at other checkpoints around the city and in the east and north of Fallujah late Friday.

For the past three nights, long convoys of American soldiers from Baghdad and Baqouba have rolled onto a dust-blown base on the city's outskirts. Commanders here have been coordinating plans either to fight their way into Fallujah or isolate it from the rest of Iraq's Sunni Muslim heartland.
In Brussels, Belgium, Iraq's interim prime minister, Ayad Allawi, warned that the "window is closing" to avert an assault on Fallujah, 65 kilometers (40 miles) west of the capital. Allawi must give the final order for the offensive, part of a campaign to curb the insurgency ahead of national elections planned for late January.

Sunni Muslim clerics have threatened to boycott the election if Fallujah is attacked, and U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan has warned U.S., British and Iraqi authorities that a military campaign and "increased insurgent violence" could put elections at risk.

11. Inflame the Iraqis, inflame the insurgents, all Iraq hot spots ignite
More and more soldiers die, casualties mount exponentially.

bush gives his speech to the nation, "We would have moved heaven and earth to avoid a draft, but the facts on the ground speak otherwise. This war on terror requires a draft."

Then he goes home and laughs his effin' head off at the stupidity of his base.

12. I am too scared to close my eyes
http://ericblumrich.com/year.html

Legion

Enveloped in a sentiment,
a sound that rushes over me.
Engage an impulse to pretend
I have a faith as pure.
Not forgetting what it means to dream.
Indulging everything.
Entertaining thoughts that I've the strength
of those I yearn to be.
Cheers and tribute greet the saviours.
Reckless thoughts survive.
Anachronistic and impulsive.

And what will happen?
Will I dream?
I am too scared to close my eyes.
For a second please hold me.
None can change in me these things that I believe.
But I don't know what happens now.
I am too scared to close my eyes.

17. Don't you just love the "wounded" phrase?
Just slap a bandaid on it and get back in there you cowards. It's probably just a scrape. Can't you see we've got oil to protect?

Edited on Fri Nov-05-04 04:39 PM by Blaze Diem
today and another from here was wounded..didn't give any details. It will be discussed further on tonights local news, though.

I wonder if his family voted for Bush.
Makes me sick. in Bush's worl and that of the Christian RIGHT, its OK to kill another human being but not until AFTER their born. These people are so f***ed up.
I am not one of their 'christians" then, I guess..and I'm comfortable with that.

I believe they said both soldiers were from the 101st..but don't quote me on that..yet.
