22. Geez, I so needed a laugh, thank you...LOL But you're right it's
wild wondering what's happening with him. Coma, awake, dying, not dying...leukemia, can't find anything WRONG *ahem* I'd say something is seriously medially WRONG with the guy. Geez

It's like watching an old black and white silent movie scene...they stumble get back up, swoon, drop, roll over, squirm...look up. Then grunt and die. Carl Reiner also comes to mind.

Nuff said.

5. How can I even begin to express that this is good news to me?
Surely the citizens of Palestine can do better than honor such a hateful terrorist that has as much blood on him as Ariel Sharon???

10. No rapture cultist here, The Zanti Regent
Just another soul for Peace.
But I remember the attacks on kids using kids with bomb belts, as well as the Likkud ordered IDF terror tactics-it is a real tragedy when those that desire peace are overruled by both sides.

I won't shed any tears over Mr. Arafat's passing though.

8. You shouldn't express things that aren't true
Edited on Sat Nov-06-04 02:09 AM by jobycom
This will lead to a bloody power struggle, and both sides will suffer. It's a very tense moment, not something to smile about.

21. Uh, Yasser can give Ariel a good run for his money.
Or didn't you bother to educate yourself on that? Yasser isn't the father of the Palestinians, he is the father of modern terrorism.

And any Palestinian foolish enough to actually work toward peace ends up dead. Which tends to harden positions.

But let's reserve all our horror for Ariel. Still blaming him for Sabra and Shatila? Did he, perchance, FORCE the Lebanese to kill those people?

24. So many statements.
Or didn't you bother to educate yourself on that? Yasser isn't the father of the Palestinians, he is the father of modern terrorism.

If there is a "father" of "modern terrorism" (whatever that is) it would likely be Avraham Tehroni, the founder of Irgun (a Jewish group) in Israel. They were responsible, among other things, for planting bombs in market places to kill as many Arab civilians as possible. Of course, Israeli Jews are better than that that sort of thing nowadays; they use F-16s and laser guided bombs.

A better choice, however, would be Avraham Stern, the founder of LEHI, better known as the Stern Gang. Stern was a guy who used the word "terrorist" to describe himself. One of the graduates of the Stern Gang was Yitzhak Shamir, who would go on to be Prime Minister of Israel. Israel actually has a ribbon they give out to former members of LEHI. But remember, only Palestinians honor terrorists, those vicious people...

But let's reserve all our horror for Ariel. Still blaming him for Sabra and Shatila? Did he, perchance, FORCE the Lebanese to kill those people?

No, he only made sure they had the opportunity, and organized the invasion that made it all possible in the first place. He was also the guy who authorized the IDF to use rolling artillery barrages in civilian areas of Lebanon. When you find evidence of Arafat doing anything that even faintly resembles that, please be so kind as to post it. Or have you, yet again, dropped your customary bomb of bullshit and run off, never to return?

27. Thank you. No one ever seems to remember the Irgun
This will be a very tense moment in history. The Palestinians will mourn the loss of their leader as we prepare to level what's left of Fallujah. I believe the expression in Arabic (roughly) is "man erhabe?" (Who's the terrorist?)

6. Nothing yet on French wires
Nothing yet in Le Monde or AFP. Debkafile is a strange source.
He may be on life support until they decide the burial place since Muslims, like Jews are supposed to be buried within 24 hours after death.

Nope, scratch that:
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/articleshow/911150.cms

A spokesman for the French military hospital treating Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat has told reporters the ailing leader is not dead.
Earlier, Paris Proche Orient Info reported that Arafat has died. Another Paris media Radio Monte Carlo reported that Arafat is clinically dead.

12. Debka is NOT, repeat NOT, a real or accurate news source.
Edited on Sat Nov-06-04 02:26 AM by Spider Jerusalem
They are known to have rather close ties to the Mossad and Israeli military, and possibly the governemnt. It is in the interest of the Israeli government (or more specifically of Ariel Sharon) to spread disinformation concerning Arafat's demise in order to precipitate a reaction from the Palestinians. Once Arafat is gone, any unity among the Palestinians will likely evaporate as they split into factions, making the elimination of any possible coherent Palestinian power structure a much easier task for Sharon and the IDF.

And no credible news source has anything about Arafat being dead. Not Reuters, not the BBC, not the Guardian, not Agence-France-Presse, not CNN or anyone else.

You should really take any information you see on the Debka site with a grain of salt about the size of Gibraltar.

18. Ah, yes. "Debka" -- it's Hebrew for "Lying Sunzabitches".
It's a rather more modern term than you'd find in Biblical Hebrew.
