Iraqi troops coming on line for possible Fallujah offensive ( paid by US
Edited on Sat Nov-06-04 04:50 PM by maddezmom
directly. Wonder why the Interim Gov't isn't writing this check???

~snip~
US military trainers have been running regular Iraqi troops and a specialised security force, called the Shahwanis, through crash courses in preparation for an offensive on the rebel enclave, west of Baghdad.

But a few Iraqi soldiers have left because they do not want to take part in such an offensive, said security trainer Sergeant Michael Applegate.

"They had some problems with people quitting because they didn't want to go ... to Fallujah," Applegate told AFP.

~snip~

Unlike other Iraqi security branches, they are paid directly by the US military, they added.

From Tuesday to Thursday this week, Applegate said he helped run a three-day crash course with 467 Iraqi army personnel, drilling the soldiers on battle tactics and marksmanship.

1. Picture this...
the Iraqi troops join our troops in the assault, only they turn on our troops. Would you kill your own people for a foreign power? This will be a disaster for Bush, and then he'll have to do something like nuke Fallujah just to save face. Christ!!!

3. Cannon fodder at best
They wouldn't stand a chance - the U.S. won't trust them, and the resistance will despise them.

4. Let me guess
Sunni.

<<But a few Iraqi soldiers have left because they do not want to take part in such an offensive>>

I bet the Shia and the Kurds are hanging around though.

Nothing like being in the middle of a three sided civil war.

The Kurds are joining with the Sunni to check Shia power.
